Yvette Starzyk, 26, an former athletic trainer and substitute teacher at Hinkley High School in Aurora, Colorado has been charged with Sexual Assault on a Child – Pattern of Abuse and Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust.
It is alleged that Starzyk, while working as an athletic trainer and substitute teacher for Hinkley High School in 2004, sexually assaulted a then 15-year-old male student on multiple occasions at places away from the school.
Starzyk came to the attention of authorities when school officials approached the School Resource Officer with concerns about her.
Starzyk turned herself in Friday afternoon at Aurora Police Headquarters and was subsequently held in the Aurora Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
Police said they believe there may be more victims involved with Starzyk and are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Chris Fanning at (303) 739-6096.
08/11/08 - Possible Plea Deal In the Works
Yvette Starzyk is reportedly considering a plea deal offered by prosecutors at a July 25th disposition hearing.
Reportedly Starzyk wished additional time to consider the offer and is expected to make her decision known at her next court appearance which is set for September 29th.

10/02/08 - Plea Deal Announced
Yvette Starzyk appeared in court on September 29 for a disposition hearing and accepted a plea deal with prosecutors under which she will plead guilty to the felony attempted sexual assault charge. In exchange for that plea, prosecutors will drop all other charges.
Starzyk faces a sentence ranging from probation up to three years in prison when sentenced.
Once again, thanks to a reader for bringing us up to speed on this case. It appears that we would have once again missed another important update on this case were it not for our great readers keeping us informed.

Even so if its one time or 48132074129874 times. she should learn to keep it in her pants, we all have to make choices. i understand it was a “mistake” so maybe the FELONY charges will teach her. if she was so innocent from all this she wouldnt have been convicted of the felony. but im sorry dont well learn from other peoples mistakes too? were the hundreds of other cases on the news not enough of a lesson for her. im sorry but you send your kids off to school and sports activities to get an education and learn disapline. not to be man handled or in this case woman handled by a teacher who you are suppoed to be able to count on and trust. sometimes you just never REALLY know a person. you think you know someone and then they turn out to be a meth head or a murderer…TRUE LIFE! no one really knows someone no matter how close they are to you, people are alwasy capable of surprising you. what i really want to know is what does a 26 year old find attrasctive about a 14 year old BOY. she is a grown woman he is a little boy with an not quite completely developed sex organ, acne & no car let alone a licence let alone a permit.hmmm….tempting huh. NOT!!!! i think she deserves what she got and i hope now that she is doing time and has a FELONY on her record that she learns to not have sex with little boys.

It looks and sounds like the prosecutors wore her down. Sometimes people will do and say whatever it takes to end the tormenting.

I agree with the previous poster. I actually knew Yvette when she and I were both students in high school. She sat in front of me in algebra. She moved out the area and we lost touch. But Starzyk is a pretty uncommon name so it aways stuck with me I guess. From what I remember, she was sweet and kind. If’s she’s guilty I’m sure she will be punished accordingly. Having sex with 14 year olds is just not right. I just want to say that as a childhood friend, I hope people will still have a place in their hearts for Yvette. I for one will not condemn her for life for one mistake.

Well I can’t say that I’m too shocked, Yvette is a beautiful attractive young woman. She’s probably been approached by a large number of young men seeking to court her, and unfortunately you can only resist temptation for so long. Eventually you give in, and that’s what she did.
I just hope that when it’s all over Yvette is okay. She’s just such a sweet lady and to see this happen to her really makes me sad.
I don’t even consider what went down a crime. It’s a joke! The kid was leading her on. The sex was consensual. Heck, the kid who supposedly got abused should be the one facing punishment not Yvette.

She did have a magic touch… She was a TRAINER. It’s her job to touch students and one person got upset that she wouldn’t date him and made these accusations and now others are having their memories modified (simple psychology). I was in 2 athletic seasons per year at hinkley during the alleged events and I don’t believe a word of it. Yvette is an amazing and kind person and I can’t believe this is happening to her, she doesn’t deserve it. Innocent until proven guilty.
