Ward Thomas Johnsen, 46, former hockey coach at Escanaba High School in Escanaba, Michigan has reportedly waived his arraignment and preliminary hearing on charges alleging sex crimes against children.

Johnsen is reportedly charged with aggravated indecent exposure, attempted accosting of children for immoral purposes, attempted use of computers to commit a crime, and attempted distribution of sexual explicit visual or verbal matter to children.
Reportedly, the charges are not felonies and carry a maximum two year prison term.
Johnsen resigned earlier this year reportedly for “personal reasons”.

11/05/09 – Guilty Plea
Ward Johnsen reportedly pleaded guilty to all four counts during his plea hearing in Delta County Circuit Court Thursday.
01/13/10 – Sentencing
Judge Stephen Davis has sentenced Ward Johnsen to eight months in jail on each of the four counts with each sentence to be served concurrently.
Johnsen was also sentenced to five years probation and ordered to undergo sex offender treatment.
Ward Thomas Johnsen will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Escanaba is in Michigan and not Minnesota.
