(08/14/08 - Initial BBT Report)
Vincent Askew, 42, who reportedly was under consideration to become a basketball coach at Gulliver Preparatory School in Pinecrest, Florida has been arrested on allegations of having sex with a 16-year-old girl he tried to recruit.

Media reports differ on Askew’s status at the school. He is reported to have worked as a pool supervisor at the middle school and also reported to have become the girl’s basketball coach at the high school in May.
In either case, it is alleged that Askew who played in the NBA from 1994-98 with Seattle, Denver, Indiana, New Jersey, and Portland was in a consensual sexual relationship with the girl and that relationship had been ongoing for the last three months.
Police say that Askew met the victim under the pretense that he was a basketball coach for the girl’s team at Gulliver School and was going to try to make her a part of that team.
Following his arrest, Askew was subsequently released on $22,000 bond.
