Tyler Radcliffe, 21, a teaching assistant and assistant softball coach at Hampton-Dumont High School in Hampton, Iowa has been charged with sexual abuse and sexual exploitation by a school employee in a case alleging a 14-year-old female student victim.
It is alleged that Radcliffe had a sexual relationship with the student from June through October of last year. He came to attention of authorities in October when the alleged victim’s mother complained to school officials.
Radcliffe was placed on administrative leave in October 2007.
Charges were filed against Radcliffe on January 2, 2008 and he made an initial court appearance on January 7 and waived a preliminary hearing.
The alleged victim’s mother has filed a civil suit, against the school system, a school board member and a teacher accusing them of circulating her daughter’s name.
02/04/09 – Guilty Plea
Tyler Radcliffe has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of sexual exploitation by a school employee.
In exchange for the guilty plea on the aggravated misdemeanor charge, a third-degree sexual abuse charge against Radcliffe was dropped.
Sentencing is set for March 9th.
