Thomas “Tom” Krepelka, 46, a science teacher at Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Arizona has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 17-year-old female student.
Krepelka, following his arrest, was booked into the Maricopa County Jail on one count each of child molestation and sexual conduct with a minor.
Krepelka came to the attention of authorities when a student at the school made accusations to school administrators and they in turn called in police.
Reportedly Krepelka has been placed on administrative leave by the Paradise Valley Unified School District.
It is being reported that although Krepelka is a reportedly a popular teacher, the reaction of his estranged family was quite different and that when Krepelka’s sons and daughter were told about their father’s arrest, one of them reportedly said, “Oh, it’s about (expletive) time. That’s great news!”

03/11/09 – Case Update
Tom Krepelka reportedly made an initial court appearance on Tuesday night at which time his bond was set in the amount of $27,000.
The judge is reported as indicating that there was no probable cause for the molestation charge due to the age of the alleged victim.
In spite of that observation, the judge did not dismiss the child molestation count.
03/20/09 – Grand Jury Indictment
Tom Krepelka has reportedly been indicted by a Maricopa County grand jury on three counts of sexual conduct with a minor for an alleged sexual encounter with a 17-year-old female student.
08/06/09 – Guilty Plea
Thomas Krepelka changed his plea from not guilty to guilty on Wednesday after another student came forward claiming she also had sexual relations with him.
Sentencing is set for September 16th.
10/09/09 – Sentencing
Tom Krepelka has been sentenced to four years in prison on two counts of attempted sexual contact with a minor.
Once Krepelka is released from prison he will reportedly be on lifetime sex offender probation.

he isnt being verbally attacked to this day. yes his reputation is down the drain, but he doesnt receive verbal abuse to this day. everyone needs to heal, but your healing must be done over his decisions, hers is over something out of her control.
no one is the same anymore that were close to either one of them. many were damaged with it and hurt by both of them. beleive me, those who were close to him also put on a happy act. She isn’t the only one. but in the end, time will heal everyone. Him, her, all of us.
what i don’t get is all of you students that are now saying how happy you are that he got caught, where were you to defend the victim at shadow… was it just easier to go along with others in a mob and attack her everyday. you guys all say you are so happy he is caught and in jail yet so many called her a slut? why didn’t you defend her before the damage was done? she isnt even the same person anymore. she puts on a happy act. anyone close to her would know that. so my question is, why wouldn’t you defend her before the verdict? why is it so easy now to say he is innocent and weird and that it doesn’t surprise you?
