Todd Hoiness Arrested Again
Posted by Webmaster in Coaches, High Schools, ME-FV, WashingtonTodd Hoiness, 40, a teacher and football coach at Hoquiam High School, in Hoquiam, Washington charged with first-degree sexual misconduct with a student athlete last week was jailed after allegedly violating conditions of his pretrial release.
Hoiness is alleged to have engaged in a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old female student last fall after she had a problem with an ex-boyfriend. The relationship came to the attention of authorities when the girl’s family found “love letters” alleged between Hoiness and the girl and went to police.
At his initial court appearance last week Hoiness was released on his own recognizance and ordered to stay away from the alleged victim and her family and not to have any unsupervised contact with juveniles, other than his own two children.
Hoiness was jailed when it was discovered that he and the girl were allegedly exchanging text messages over the weekend.

I still say, remove the teacher aspect of this and make Todd her employer and see if anyone is as outraged – I would say that you wouldn’t be. If she were 16 years old I would say he needs to be dropkicked into a pit of hungry coyotes. He still needs to get his head examined for violating the conditions of his pretrial release. How stupid for both he and the young woman to not obey the court order. In college, how often is this ‘law’ broken? In the 3 colleges I attended it was broken frequently.
Yes, we have laws that prohibit a teacher from having a sexual relationship with a student. Do we have laws prohibiting our Priests from having sexual relationships with our kids? No. How many of them do we slam into jail? We let them run to another parrish and get other KIDS,they pay some money, say a few prayers, and it’s okay. How about our Congressmen? Embarrass them, maybe a fine or a pay off to the parents… We don’t have adequate laws protecting our kids from these people and we probably need those as much or more than we need to protect an 18 year old ADULT from someone she has known for quite a while in and out of school and who she continued to contact by texting after his arrest & release on PR. Maybe since she is 18, the court ordered no contact, and she was texting as well as Todd she should be found in contempt of Court and go to jail?!? Sounds like a good idea to me! Everyone then gets the message that this behavior isn’t acceptable. We should be more concerned about the 11-15 yer old boys and girls. They are the most vulnerable and most exploited.

Colleen Sproul…please, age has absolutely nothing to do with this. Most states have laws that say that sexual actvity between a teacher and a student is NEVER consentual regardless of the the age of the student.

I hope this doesn’t affect his coaching career with your new minor league football team, the grays harbor bearcats. Coach Hoiness has done his time. Its time to move on.

Colleen… these teachers are in care of our children. 18 or not… she was a student at HHS at the time of the sexual intercourse. Do you really think it was right?

I agree and despite the fact that this ‘girl’ is a student, she is 18, legally considered an adult and allowed to vote. By law she can date, consort with, and marry without parental consent a man of this teacher’s age. Because he happens to be a teacher it makes it “BAD” ? If he is still married, his wife needs a reality check! There have been throughout history and in every culture older men who like young women. At one time it was common practice for a woman to marry a man at least 4 years her senior. This gave the woman an established home as soon as she married. Granted, this isn’t necessary as it once was, but who is to say these aren’t genetic traits? We are finding more and more about genetics all the time.
If she was and is old enough to be considered an adult to vote, then she is an adult enough to decide to have an affair with Todd Hoiness….

This teacher/coach may have some serious issues BUT it isn’t a true reflection of 99.9% public school teachers that are making a difference in the lives of today’s youth.
