Timothy Nicholas Gounaris, 50, a former Baltimore City and County middle school teacher has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but 18 months of that term suspended for the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old female student.
The sexual abuse of the Pine Grove Middle School student took place in Gounaris’ bedroom during a two week period in December 2005. While under investigation for the sexual abuse of the girl, Gounaris left the employ of the Baltimore County School System and went to work for the Baltimore City Schools.
He was arrested in December 2006 and was released on $50,000 bond. In April of this year he entered an Alford plea to the third-degree sex offense and in exchange prosecutors dropped second-degree rape and perverted practice charges.
Once Gounaris is released from jail he must begin paying $10,000 restitution in the form of monthly payments of $150, for medical expenses the girl has accumulated. Additionally he must make monthly payments of about $200 to cover costs of her continuing therapy.
03/05/09 – Timothy Gounaris Faces Child Porn Charges
Court documents reportedly indicate that Timothy Gounaris is scheduled for a detention hearing Monday. Gounaris was arrested Friday after the FBI found evidence that he was sharing image and video files of “minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct” on the Internet.
If convicted on the latest charges, Gounaris could face a mandatory minimum of 10 years and a maximum of 20 years.

that’s our whole point. She’s bragging about because she is a CHILD and doesn’t know better. You, or your friend/husband/relative is an adult and a teacher and knew WAAAAAY better than a teenage GIRL. You need to realize this point, though, I feel I’m wasting my time. Logic is lost on you.
ALSO, and trust me..I’m not saying what happened..whatever it was that happened..was right. Neither party, I think, was right. The only thing I’m saying is that it is not fair that one person’ life is blasted JUST because he was a teacher. Like I have said previously, the ONLY reason it was blasted was because of that..there are tons of sex offenders, who do MUCH worse than what supposively happened..and their lives are not blasted..they get out and go on with their lives with no media involved. That’s all. Life is too short to argue over something like this. Everyone’s opinion is different. And like I said before, the “victim” shouldn’t be bragging about something like that. Women that have gone through this DO NOT brag about what happened. So that’s all..go on with your lives.
Well clearly, whatever happened at the time was okay..people don’t brag about those kinds of things. Really, everyone has their own opinions about it. Just leave it be. What’s done is done..and I’m sure he and his family are suffering too. So stay out of his life..and go on with yours. It’s sad that everyones business needs to be blasted. There is no need to comment back. It’s all none of your business nor anyone else’s. Remember..there are ALWAYS two sides to every story. Somewhere in the middle is the truth, and no one will ever know it.

regardless of if she bragged about it or not, it is wrong for ADULTS to have sex with MINORS. And this is even further illegal when you are in a position of trust over said minor. Why you can’t understand this is beyond me.
And, really, who would go around telling people they slept with a Anton LaVey look-alike?
And, wow, the “victim” must have been really tore up about for her to go around talking about the incident..right? Because that makes sense? You would think that that would be something you kept to yourself..but the attention must have been enjoyed.

There are TONS of people who commit sex offense crimes EVERYDAY. Really, you people all need to get lives. Stop worrying about other people’s lives and what they do. NO ONE knows the real story except for Mr. Gounaris and the ONE “victim”. And yes, the quotes are necessary. I feel sorry for those who’s lives have been exploited all over the internet and the news. You can go through life with NO problems what-so-ever, and one thing..only because your a teacher..ruins your ENTIRE life. And it;s not just his life that’s ruined..he has family and friends that have to deal with the reprocutions and the heart-ache and the stress..all because of one little lie. WOW, people have no lives.
Ummm he is a teacher in our community and we trust him for 8 hours a day with our children, so yes it is our business. His life is sad that he has to exploit children and your life is sad that you are defending him. The facts are that he plead guilty and admitted to a 3rd degree sex offense with a minor. THen he gets caught with child porn on his computer. What other side of the story can there be? He already admitted to having relations with his students. Dont worry though, Bubba will take care of him in prison and hopefully he will be locked up for a long time for his parole violation and then his federal child porn offense.
You people are sad sad people with nothing better to do with your lives. There are always more than one side to EVERY story. Really, I think it’s time to get a life.
its our business when we have a teacher in our community who has “sexual relations” or “relations at all” with one of his students. This is one sick individual who didn’t learn his lesson the first time and then got caught with child pornography on his computer. This are children who have been exploited. THis man needs and deserves to be locked up for a long time – which will happen. Lets see how he likes it when Bubba exploits him
Also, get your facts straight before you go posting people’s business all over the place. There was no evidence of “sharing.” All you reporters, and people with nothing better to do with your time need to worry about your own lives and stay out of others.
