Timothy Goerzen, 35, a math teacher at Indio High School in Indio, California has been arrested and booked on an allegation of the sexual battery of a female 12th-grade student.
The allegations center on inappropriate touching and grabbing and came to the attention of police when the alleged victim told a friend, the friend told their parents who contacted the school.
School officials contacted police last Friday.
Goerzen was arrested at the school early Monday morning and was subsequently released on $25,000 bond.
Goerzen has been placed on paid administrative leave from the school system.
08/09/08 - Charges Declined
The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office has declined to file charges against Timothy Goerzen.
A spokesperson for the DA’s office has been quoted as saying, “The reason for this decision is based on the lack of sufficient evidence to warrant such a filing.”

Why didn’t the DA just come out and say there isn’t any evidence that a crime occured, instead of “lack of sufficient evidence to warrant such a filing.” They arrest this guy at school and run him through the ringer and they don’t have the (*****) to word it the way it should be. Instead they word it so people wonder.

Goerzen is a very good teacher he is dedicated to his job and tries his hardest for students to understand his material. He offers extra help before tests, quizzes etc. It is hard for me to believe this because i never noticed anything strange and i spend a lot of time with him after class and school for tutoring. It can be easy for a girl to make these acusations and the law will pay attention but without evidence its just nonsense. I am glad that Mr. Goerzen is back in school. The DA has declined to file charges on this matter, because there is insufficient evidence. Please remove his name from your website immediately.
In regard to taking the page on the case down, that would be the least ethical thing we could do and here’s why:
Search engines.
A dozen or so big search engines such as Google, Yahoo!, MSN, AOL and such and dozens upon dozens of “also ran search engines” have indexed the page on badbadteacher.com. If we take the page down now those archived copies of the original page will remain in their search index and be presented as search results from now on, basically forever.
By maintaining the coverage and updating it to reflect the charges were dismissed, the defendant found not guilty or the case overturned on appeal as applicable we present an accurate account and coverage of the case and archived copies of our coverage will reflect the actual outcome of the case.
So which is more ethical, keeping the page up while indicating the charges were dropped or having Google and others display an archived copy of our original page indicating he is charged with a sex crime?
By the way, we will *ALWAYS* take down our coverage of a case where charges are dismissed, the defendant found not guilty or the case thrown out on appeal *IF* the individual whose case we covered asks us to do so. Of those we have heard from, everyone has indicated they would prefer the outcome of the case remain online. We have yet to hear from the first individual wishing to have coverage of his innocence taken down. If Mr. Goerzen wants the page taken down, all he has to do is notify us and if he wishes we do so in spite of the issues expressed above we will do so. - Webmaster

“No charges have been filed.”
Goerzen was booked at the Indio jail and released on $25,000 bond. The case has been submitted to the Riverside County district attorney’s office. No charges have been filed.

Are you a teacher? It only takes one such nonsense allegation, and your career is over. Forget three strikes. This is One strike and you’re out. Forget the ten years of solid public service. And don’t talk to me about the soviet union’s system. Your site is pure mccarthyism at its finest. Allege crap and it will stick.
Care to include opposing viewpoints? Consider this:

I am a former student of Mr. Goerzen and I only have great things to say about him. During my whole Senior year I went through a lot of hardship and so many problems; he was the only Adult that I felt I could trust and actually cared about my safety and well being. He was more than just a teacher he was a person I could confide in. These Allegations against him are so unbelievable to me it has to be a misunderstanding. I will always stand by his side because without him I do not believe I could have made it that year. I wish him the best.

Fair enough, people will jump on either side of such inflammatory matters, and the next poster may claim something opposite. Point is, the man’s career is ruined whatever happens next. But I am wasting your time and mine, as you really don’t care about an innocent man’s career do you? Screw ‘em!
Can’t seem to recruit any good qualified teachers lately? Gee, I wonder why!!

Nice hatchet job. Yes, lovely, there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the page alright. You have to do a lot of scrolling to get there though, and most people don’t. Since the administrator implies these unproven allegations are not damaging to innocents, I urge him to add a page describing himself, with photo, alleging rape and incest. I look forward to seeing this as an indication of your unbiased fairness.

Obviously we disagree on the right of the public to know when an employee of a school is arrested on allegations of committing a sex crime against a child or other minor.

Would you prefer that our criminal justice conduct its business in total secrecy with the results announced only if/when the accused is convicted? Didn’t they have something similar to that in the former Soviet Union? And of course it was a very efficient system, as only the guilty were ever accused of a crime and all accused were found guilty.

As to adding a page about myself - I’ll do that but only if I am ever arrested on allegations of the sexual abuse of a child/minor.

Hey, whatever happened to “innocent until proven guilty”? Just cause some girl says something, does that make it so? I don’t suppose you know any teenage girl who’s ever lied about anything? And do you intend to retract this when he is cleared, or just throw allegations at the wind?
