Guilty!

Timothy Byars, 45, a former volunteer track coach at Dyersburg High School in Dyersburg, Tennessee has pleaded guilty and been sentenced for raping a 14-year-old girl before a track meet in November 2006.

As a result of Byars guilty plea he received a nine year sentence with 11 months and 29 days to serve in county jail on a charge of sexual battery and one year to serve in prison on the rape charge.

The victim of the sexual battery charge is reportedly the sister of the rape victim and both crimes occurred on the same night.

Byars’ sentence does not offer any opportunity to reduce his jail or prison time.

Following his jail and prison time Byars faces seven years of “enhanced” probation, a lifetime of supervision and he must register as a sex offender.

07/28/08 - Formal Appearance on Sexual Battery Count

On Friday, timothy Byars appeared in court for formal plea and sentencing on the sexual battery charge.

Byars must serve a year in the Knox County Jail, then be transferred to serve 364 days in the Nashville-Davidson County Jail.

He faces seven years on supervised probation and a lifetime on probation once his jail sentences are served.

    This guy was a football coach of mine at Union City High School. Very weird to see his pic in this situation.
