Tigia M. Finn, 34, of recent a math teacher at Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia is reportedly being sought by Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana sheriff’s deputies on a 4 1/2-year-old warrant on allegations of her having a longstanding sexual relationship with a then-high-school student.
In a deposition filed in May 2008 in civil litigation over the relationship, Ronnie T. Wesby who is now 25 alleges that he had a romance with Finn for several years that included sexual liaisons in her classroom in spring 1999 and later at her apartment. Wesby’s law suit filed in February 2005, which Wesby’s attorney offered recently to settle, names Finn and the Tangipahoa Parish School Board as defendants.
The September 14, 2004 arrest warrant for felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, although still active, has never been executed for more than four years according to a Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s spokeswoman who indicated that the warrant had never been entered into the National Crime Information Center system which would have made its existence known nationwide.
Reportedly on Thursday morning, before school officials became aware of the Louisiana allegations against Finn, she resigned from the DeKalb County school where she has worked for the past year and a half.
Since the arrest warrant was never entered into the National Crime Information Center system school officials in Georgia were not aware of her status in Louisiana at the time she was hired.
01/27/09 – Finn Turns Herself In
On Monday, Tigia M. Finn surrendered to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputies and was booked into the parish jail in on a count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Finn was subsequently released on $2,500 bond.
Reportedly a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office confirmed that Schirra Finn Sr., Tigia Finn’s brother, is a deputy whose time with the Sheriff’s Office goes back to at least July 2004, when Sheriff Daniel Edwards first took office.
01/28/09 – Case Raises Procedure Questions
Troubling questions are being raised as to why the detective assigned to Finn’s case in 2004 did not manually enter the warrant information into the NCIC which would have provided law enforcement officers nationwide notice that Finn was being sought for the alleged sexual abuse of a minor.
Reportedly the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s used to NCIC to keep track of its own cases and without the warrant being entered into the NCIC, even sheriff’s deputies were for the most part unaware Finn was a fugitive until The Advocate aired a news report on the allegations.
After the airing of that report deputies said they would attempt to execute the warrant.

Hmmm when I first heard about this I was in total shock since we lived in the same dorm together! Tigia was a smart student in many ways but I like TallArtsyDude I noticed how weak she was as far as relationships were concerned. I feel sorry for those students because I KNOW she was a GREAT TEACHER who MADE POOR CHOICES. However, it doesnt take away from the fact that what she ADMITTED to doing was INDEED WRONG. Just think, if somebody killed someone 10 years ago and were just getting caught, we would still expect them to go to jail. Child Molestation is NO DIFFERENT. I still cant fatham looking at a KID and having SEXUAL THOUGHTS about him and definitely NOT take it to another level. Tigia (should have) know(n) better!! But she unfortunately she DIDNT DO BETTER. From what I have gathered she was obsessed with this little boy and very jealous. Hence her childish acts and ways and immaturity. How could a then 25+ year old woman be jealous of a relationship that a 15 year old is having? How could a 15 year old enhance you mentally, emotionally, and financially? He can’t! I am sorry students, but as good of a teacher that I know she was, she has voluntarily took that right away. Although it happened in the past its now time to for her to pay in the present. I wish her luck as well as the young man who was a part of this.

Ms. Finn tought me last year at SHS. I never thought she would do something like that.
I’m shocked, but not surprised.
Having shortly dated Ms. Finn back in College, I then noticed potential weaknesses in her psyche, namely a penchant for abusive relationships, which she approached with a childlike enthusiasm. People have spoken of her childlike & even goofy nature; when we dated, I found that to be a diversion for some other unexpressed emotion.
I often wondered about her over the years, it’s a shame for me to be met with such news about someone I knew so intimately.
This is no big deal, I once had a friend who dated a wanted murderer for months before he was arrested during dinner one evening.
Everyone makes mistakes, but this woman F@%ked up, big time.
Sex with the children should never be taken lightly, even if the teacher was hot, or cool.
Something also stinks royally about how this case was misplaced for so long, being that Ms. finn has close relatives throughout the parish municipalities.
Lastly, what was she thinking when she brought charges against that boy? He could have whooped my arse Black & Blue in that situation, and I would have had to let it slide.
God’s Mercy be plentiful!

What is the Georgia school board doing about this? Did the Tangipahoa School Board and its principal give this teacher a high recommendation for this position? A clean bill of health.
It was alleged that her former principal and now School Board Member was aware of this and covered it up. This was reported in the Advocate (see 2theadvocate.com in the Tangipahoa-Livingston parish section).
The young man is not the only victim here, Ms Finn is a victim as well. (Deleted by site moderator) Ms Finn’s life would have been ten years in recovery had this mess been dealt with in 1999. Somebody covered this up and created a time to remove this scab that should have been healed years before now.
Ms Finn, we here in LA know that you did not create this mess. Yes you did get caught up in moments of intimacy, that I’m sure you have reconcile with the Lord. But the mess, was not your creation. We all love you, your mother, father, (may they continue to rest in peace) and your family.
If if were you, I would clear my name, remove my family from the brunt of the gossip by telling the whole truth. I would not leave a soul out. Don’t bare this burdensome load alone.

If the judge and DA had done their job after the sworn statement she would have never had the chance to run. She would have served her time, or finished probation. She has relatives that work in the system. Her first cousin was Asst. DA and her brother works for the TPSO. Most places when this happens, an arrest is made immediately no matter who the family is.
