Thomas Shults, 45, an honors English teacher and drama club leader at North Central High School in Kershaw, South Carolina has been charged with assault and battery on allegations that he inappropriately touched one of his students by slapping her bottom.

Reportedly a student and her parent complained to school official in early November claiming that Shults would often ask the female student body to act out sexual scenes in class, sometimes using props. Similar claims were made to a school resource officer by another student.

Police reports state, “He has made sexual annotations about classroom activities” and “His grades are based on class participation and acting out some of the plays and riddles include sex scenes.”

Reportedly Shults has been on administrative leave with pay since late October.

Thomas Shults has been officially terminated by the Kershaw County School Board.
