Steven J. Kemp, 34, a former teacher and golf coach and boys basketball coach at West Central High School, in Biggsville, Illinois has been arrested on allegations that he sexually assaulted a 17-year-old female student.

Kemp has been charged with three counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse on allegations that he had intercourse with the girl on three occasions between March and August 2007 and fondled her breasts on two occasions in July and August of 2007 with all of the incidents allegedly occurring in Kemp’s home.
Reportedly Kemp who has taught at the school since 2005 resigned on October 22nd and received a $12,000 settlement from the school board, apparently in conjunction with his resignation.
1/08/08 - Court Appearance
Today Steven Kemp waived his preliminary hearing and plans to plead not guilty when arraigned on sexual assault charges.
Kemp’s defense attorney says the entire case against his client is a misunderstanding and that there is no truth to allegations that any sexual conduct occurred between Kemp and alleged victim.
2/27/08 - Arraignment
Steven Kemp appeared for arraignment on Tuesday and entered a not guilty plea to all charges and demanded a jury trial.
Kemp remains free on $5,000 bond.
05/21/08 - Pretrial Hearing Continued, Trial Re-Scheduled
A pretrial hearing for Steven J. Kemp has been continued until July 23.
His trial which was scheduled for June 9th has been rescheduled for August 11th.
The changes were to permit prosecutors to review and analyze 150 pages of phone records which were subpoenaed back in October but received only last week.
