Steven Emanuel, 46, reportedly a gym teacher and basketball coact at Creekland Middle School in Canton, Georgia has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 13-year-old female student.
Emanuel was arrested today by detectives with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office on charges of child molestation and sexual assault of a person in custody.
Reportedly Emanuel came to the attention of the Sheriff’s Office when the alleged sexual assault was initially reported to school resource officers.
The sexual assault of the student is alleged to have taken place at the school on September 25th.
Following his arrest Emanuel was being held without bond in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
Emanuel was reassigned from teaching duties when the investigation got underway two weeks ago.

I am a student in his class which i saw the police offers come and arrest him. I hate that because he seemed like a good teacher. I need advise on getting over this situation

No, this man is totally innocent. The girl made it up, okay? She went to an alternative school, Crossroads, for lying to the police. Steven Emanuel is innocent, through and through. Now, I do think he was a bit perverted, from hearing things from my friends and my freshman cousin at Creekview, but he would never molest a student. He should be released, totally innocent.
Why is everybody so comfortable in calling a 13 year old child a liar about something so potentially heinous as this? Consider that it is true – what then? He will have an opportunity to defend himself against these charges and the prosecution will have an opportunity to prove their case. Hopefully truth will prevail.
this is the last man that should be on “badbadteacher”………he is 100% innocent and yes the girl did make it up for all the people that believe her

i can’t believe this happend. my family and i knew him very well because he was my sisters 7th and 8th grade basketball coach. he would never do that. he also has a daughter around the age of 13 and a son who is 16 or 17. i think the girl made it up. its such a shame
I think he did it y would a student lie like that and if she did something is really wrong with her
Here we go again. Arresting someone on the word of a minor without any proof or a confession. If one of these kids said that a police officer sexually assualted them, the police officer wouldn’t be arrested and put on display in the newspapers like they do to teachers and parents. If these kids can get away with this now, what do you think they’ll do when they get older? Why would anyone decide to become a teacher theses days knowing kids can make false claims like this and in most cases get away with it.
This is a well respected coach who has not been proven guilty. The community is very shocked at these accusation and the arrest. The Emanuel family is in many peoples prayers. One student can ruin the lives of so many people through such accusations.
