(1/29/08 - Initial BBT Report)
Stanford L. Ray, 50, a former dropout prevention coordinator for the Thomasville, North Carolina City Schools has been charged with sexual activity with student by school personnel other than teacher, school administrator or student teacher.
Ray came to the attention of authorities as the result of allegations by a girl who claims that she had sex with Ray in 2006 and had a baby as a result. At the time of the alleged incident the girl was a 17-year-old student at Thomasville High School.
Ray was terminated earlier this month after school officials investigated and found that the allegations had merit.
Ray, who worked for the school system since 2001, at one time served as a coach for the girls’ basketball team at Thomasville Middle School.
