Shon M. Walter, 50, a computer technology teacher at Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia has been arrested on allegations of downloading child pornography from the Internet to his home computer.
The U.S Attorney’s Office has issued a statement indicating that the 10-count federal indictment alleges that on five occasions in 2005 and once in 2008 Walter downloaded child pornography images. The indictment further alleges that at least one of those images portrayed violent sex with a 10-year-old girl.
Walter was arrested last Friday following his indictment.
Reportedly Walter has been placed on administrative leave without pay by the school system.
During a court appearance Tuesday, Walter waived bond and is scheduled to appear on April 15th for arraignment.
09/08/09 – Sentencing
Shon M. Walter, who in June pleaded guilty to two counts of receipt of child pornography, has been sentenced to 23 years in federal prison.
Once released from prison, Walter is required to register as a sex offender.
He will not be permitted to take a paid or voluntary position involving children and will not be permitted to have contact with minors, including his own children, without supervision and approval by his probation officer.
