(1/07/08 – Initial BBT Report)
Shannon Kay Hrozek, 42, a 10th-grade English teacher at Westfield High School, in Houston, Texas has been arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child on allegations that she was caught inside a darkened classroom performing oral sex on a teenager.
Reportedly in court documents it is alleged that Hrozek was caught by the school’s assistant principal while Hrozek was performing oral sex on a 16-year-old male student inside Classroom 143 at the high school. This after a janitor reported the teacher and a student were in the darkened and locked classroom.
Allegedly Hrozek had asked the student to come to her classroom after school to “finish talking”…
The alleged victim told police the teacher “started rubbing him on his upper body” and proceeded to pull down his pants and perform oral sex on him.
Hrozek posted a $50,000 bond and was released from the Harris County Jail on Monday night.
Hrozek, who has worked for the school district since 2004 is the third Spring ISD teacher charged with having sex with a student in the last four months. She has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
04/17/08 – Court Appearance and Additional Allegations
Shannon Hrozek made a court appearance today.
While in court Hrozek learned that she will be facing additional charges after another student has come forward with similar allegations.
Hrozek who has been free on bond was arrested in court.
02/03/09 – Trial Underway
KHOU reports that the trial of Shannon Hrozek on a charge of sexual abuse of a child is underway.

02/04/09 – Alleged Victim Testifies
Today jurors heard testimony from the alleged victim.
The boy, now 17, told jurors that on one occasion Shannor Hrozek kissed him and on another he said they were caught together by a janitor in a teacher’s lounge.
The boy described in detail the events of January 3, 2007 when when an assistant principal unlocked the door and caught them, with Hrozek allegedly performing oral sex upon the boy.
02/09/09 – Jury May Be Deadlocked
The jury in the trial of Shannon Hrozek began deliberations this afternoon and over the course of about four hours sent two notes to the judge indicating that the jury was deadlocked.
In both instances, the judge reportedly told jurors to continue deliberating.
At the conclusion of the court day, the judge told jurors to come back on Tuesday at 10 a.m. to continue deliberations.
02/10/09 – Jury Still Deadlocked
Reportedly there was a heated argument in court late Tuesday afternoon after a judge demanded a jury keep working on a verdict in the trial of Shannon Hrozek.
The judge ordered the jury to return to the courtroom on Wednesday morning and continue deliberations.
The defense requested that a mistrial be declared and the judge indicated she would grant the request if the defense was ready to begin a second trial on Monday. The defense termed the offer ludicrous.
Reportedly the jury is deadlocked 8 to 4, with no indication on which verdict is favored by the majority.
02/11/09 – Guilty Plea To Lesser Charges
Shannon Hrozek accused of sexual abuse of a child has in a deal with prosecutors pled guilty to two counts of an improper relationship with a student by contact.
As a result of the plea deal with prosecutors, Hrozek was sentenced to 10 years deferred adjudication.
The plea deal came while jurors, still deadlocked, continued deliberations today after the judge refused to declare a mistrial.
Deferred adjudication is basically probation. If the guilty party serves their deferred adjudication period without violating its terms their record may be cleared.
Shannon Hrozek will not be required to register as a sex offender.
Under the terms of the plea deal, Hrozek must surrender her teaching certificate for life and can not be around children younger than 17 without an adult present.

And here’s another difference: This case is being covered on CNN. HOW does the man defend himself from this? All it takes is for one accusation to ruin a man’s life. A woman does it she gets a lifetime deal and everyone agrees the kid got lucky. If the MAN is to be villified for this then we need to treat women the same way. Maybe WOMEN TEACHERS NEED TO BE MENTALLY AND EMOTIONALLY SCREENED BEFORE TAKING TEACHING JOBS!!!

When my closest friend told me that our 8th grade teacher got caught performing oral sex with a 10th grader… that was a big shocker. i knew she was crazy but gaw damn i didn’t know she was delirious. It makes me sick to know someone like her. *shame shame*
When a 42 year old woman has to resort to a 16 year old minor for sexual stimulations, an issue has been deeply rooted prior to said occurrence. However, she is not completely responsible, i.e. the student could have alerted others to her recidivist behavior and/or possible sexual advances prior to her oral moment with him. In brief, a proactive response contrasting the after-the-fact response would have been more revered in this case. His vainglorious moment is his successful-failure.

i am deeply hurt about the charges that has been put against her she was my english teacher when i was in the 8th grade. to me she was a cool teacher i can’t beleive that she did what she did…wow
