Ryan Patrick Marshall, 37, a seventh-grade language teacher at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Charlotte, North Carolina has been arrested on allegations of taking indecent liberties with a child and disseminating harmful materials to minors.
WSCO TV reports that Marshall is accused of using a cell phone to send inappropriate pictures and text messages to a student.
The Charlotte Observer reports that the alleged victim is one of Marshall’s students and that the incident occurred over the weekend and that a report was filed on Monday.
Marshall was reportedly taken into custody on Tuesday evening and lodged in the Mecklenburg County Jail.
04/30/09 – Case Update
A probable cause affidavit filed in the case alleges that Marshall came to the attention of authorities when the mother of a 13-year-old girl intercepted text messages allegedly from Marshall to her daughter.
It is further alleged that the girl’s mother, posing as her daughter, arranged to meet with Marshall at the Starlight Roller Rink. The mother told police that Marshall, her daughter’s teacher, showed up driving an older white Nissan as had been indicated in a text message. It is further alleged that “(Marshall) told her (the mother) the he was not a child predator and then drove away”, according to the affidavit.
Police also say that, the girl’s mother intercepted a text from the teacher and found frontal and rear photos of Marshall naked below the waist.
It is also alleged that in another text message, Marshall encouraged the girl to wear a skirt to school to allow easier access to have sex with her.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools suspended Marshall while the investigation continues.

Look, I was in Mr.Marshall’s class when he was arrested and him and the student had a very wierd relationship.I can believe he’d do this because she was always very twitchy around him when the class would look away.She would always smile to our face but we knew something was wrong. All I can do is pray that this investigation will lead to the truth of this controversy.
My sister who also went to CCHS with me never once felt uncomfortable around him. He was the best teacher. plus what is a 13 year old girl doing having his number or giving her’s to him. she is also at fault…! but i dont know.
Hi my name is Robin O. I used to be a student of Mr. Marshall. He taught my English class at Central Cabarrus HS, and he was one of the best teachers i have ever had. I just cant believe it. Im not saying he is innocent…. but i just really cant believe it. I agree with MATT! I DONT THINK THAT MR. MARSHALL WOULD DO THIS. HE NEVER ONCE MADE ME FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE OR MADE A MOVE ON ME. I MEAN COME ON HE JUST HAD A BABY. I DONT THINK HE WAS THE ONE WHO WAS DOING THIS… THERE HAS TO BE A MISTAKE SOMEWHERE. ITS JUST NOT RIGHT. Hang in there Mr. Marshall.
I would suggest the police to do further investigation on this please.
Hello, my name is brian and i used to be a student of marshall and i fully agree that he propably DID do this. The reason i say is because he did always acted nice to the girls and he played a basketball game at the school Pep-Ralley with his pants down. I just think that he should be in prison because i hate sickos like this guy right here.
Hello my name is Matt I am a former student of Mr. Marshall when he was teaching English I at CCHS and i am saying this is a load of bullcrap I’ve known him for at least a year and i know he could neverrrrrrrrrrrr do this. I am saying that Mr. Ryan Marshall MUST have been framed so I would suggest that you do FURTHER investigation in this situation because this is not right at all!!!
