Ronald C. Barche, 47, an ROTC instructor at North Port High School in North Port, Florida has been arrested on allegations that he tried to seduce a 16-year-old girl via cell phone text messages.
It is alleged that Barche and the girl exchanged text messages and that the exchanges turned sexual in nature.
It is further alleged that the girl sent nude photographs of herself to Barche using her cell phone and that Barche propositioned her for sex in text messages.
Barche came to the attention of authorities when the girl and her mother reportedly went to police.
Barche is facing a charge of using a computer service to solicit a child.
Reportedly he is being held in the Sarasota County Jail.
09/09/09 – Guilty Plea
On Tuesday, Ronald Barche reportedly pleaded guilty in Sarasota County to two counts of using a cell phone to seduce a child.
Last month, Charlotte County deputies arrested Barche on one count of unlawful sexual activity with a person 16 or 17.
In that case Barche was released on $25,000 bond following his arrest.
Sentencing in the Sarasota County case is set for November.
In that case Barche faces the possibility of up to five years in prison.
12/09/09 – Sentencing In Sarasota County
On December 3rd, 12th Circuit Judge Charles Roberts sentenced Ronald Barche to 42 months in prison on his guilty plea on two third-degree felony counts of using a computer service-electronic device to seduce or solicit a child.
In addition to the prison time, Barche will reportedly be required to register as a sex offender.
The victim told the judge that when she finally had the courage to return to NPHS that students spit on her, scratched her car with keys and pushed her into lockers. Judge Roberts called the victim a “courageous young lady” and told her that her peers and supposed friends were cruel in their treatment of her.
The judge also told the vicitm, “You had the strength to come forward and ability to recognize right versus wrong.”

Where are all his supporters now that he’s admitted to these things in a controlled phone call? & Got his pension from the Navy taken away?

Ive knowen Ron for six years now and to tell you the truth it was only a matter of time before all of his sneeky deeds caught up with him. Hes got a wife and kids around that girls age, how could you subject your family to that kind of pain and embarrasment. Rons always been a loud mouth and a very errogant person and it was only a matter of time before he caught. Im shocked he didnt get caught earlier than now, a pos like that belongs behind bars…

Why would you rag on rotc? It has nothing to do with this. What the man did had nothing to do with the military. That’s just childish to make a comment like that.
I knew Barche for three years as one of his students. He gave his phone number out to everyone that was in ROTC just incase any students ever needed help, guidance, or even something simple like what time the football game started. He was an excellent teacher and mentor. However, he also joked around a lot, and was pretty open minded… That’s what being in the Navy for 20+ years will do to you. From what I can gather from the story, this was completely a set up, or some kind of misunderstanding on the girl’s part. You guys ask… “well why didn’t he report it?” The girl was one of his students, and my best guess was that he would never want to get anyone in trouble, because he always looked out for all of his cadets and would do anything to help any of them. My guess is that she either got scared he would tell on her so she got to it first, or her parents just found out and reported it. He’s a good guy, and an even better teacher, i hate to see him take the fall for this.
i dont see why everyones sticking up for him when obviously theres evidence that he tried to seduce her..he cant be that great of a man
I knew the guy really well was in class in 2005 he had a alot of respect for me being as I was the only one from a Military family in the class. it’s just hard to belive this.
I don’t understand how people that don’t know Chief Barche can actually comment on this as if they have a clue as to what they’re talking about. He is a wonderful man; his family is in a lot of pain over this, and the problem is that none of it is true.
You can’t accurately comment on the character of a man until you’ve met him. He is a wonderful man, a great teacher, and he does not deserve this.
Besides the fact that SHE sent nude photos to HIM. How in the hell does that make him the immediately guilty party? This is ridiculous, and is being completely misconstrued. When I see (Name deleted by site moderator) arrested for propositioning a teacher, filing a fake report, and making false accusations against an educator, then we can talk about who has a bad character.
My heart goes out to Chief and the members of his family, and hopefully soon to be my family, that are so horribly hurt by this. I can only hope that the student gets what she deserves, because Chief Barche clearly has not.

This is c***. Those of you that think he deserves this, you have no idea as to what a good man this guy is. You don’t know how many people he’s gone out of the way to help, to practically save. Im a member of the US Military and I have him to thank for the training he gave. As for you “PC” get a life, “ROTC clown” are you serious!? That man is a good man, this whole thing is a bunch of bull if you ask me.
I know he didn’t do it! I have known him for like 7 years and he has been friends with my family! I was in his ROTC class, I have been to red sox games with him his family and my family. If you ask me that girl should get in trouble. Now a days alls a girl has to do is say some teacher touched her and they get in trouble.
Why am I paying property taxes so turkey chinned clowns can flirt with teenagers….I am paying for this behavior!!!!!! Typical ROTC clown with no life. You should have focused on 50 year old hags…better sleep with one eye open in the clink.
dude this guy was a d u c h e he was always flirtin with the other girls and he should get into trouble and to angela he failed me and i did dress out but he said that sence i actualy brought him aside and told him that i wasnt feeling good and his answer was s*** it up and grow some (Deleted by site moderator) even though i was caughin up blood so he gets wat he deserves

i agree with angel.. i was a student in that class and i dont believe this whole thing at all! its all a lie.
he was probably hard on you because you probably didn’t do want you were told, and you acted out a lot. Thats what happens to kids who don’t wear their uniform, and don’t listen…
He didnt do it! its a set up! the girl doesn’t like him, and she’s been trying to get back at him for a while…
I was in class with this guy and he was always being a (Deleted by site admin) to me. The fact that his life is now ruined is funny to me.
