(11/18/08 – Initial BadBadTeacher.com Report)

Robin Smith, 30, a math teacher at Truman Middle School in Grand Prairie, Texas has been arrested and is facing charges of indecency with a child.

Investigators said in a press release that the alleged acts of indecency occurred in 2006 and 2007 with a 12-year-old boy and that the alleged victim was a middle school student at the time.

Smith taught at Adams Middle School the two previous years and investigators believe that is where the alleged victim attended middle school.

It is not clear at this time how authorities learned of the alleged crimes.

The Dallas Morning News reported:

My understanding is a student said something to a teacher at the Ninth Grade Center,” Mr. Buchmeyer said. “The teacher went to the principal, and the principal brought in the school resource officer.

While CBS11 TV reported:

The child that made these allegations actually made an outcry to a witness,” Gudgel said of the incident. “The witness, at that point, contacted the Grand Prairie Police Department and the school district. We are currently working in conjunction with the school district in reference to this investigation.”

Reportedly Smith has been placed on administrative leave with pay and following his arrest Smith was released on $100,000 bond.

play with fire, and you get burned. Damn shame the innocent victims could be your own children, who are unaware of what this man has been accused of. You, being the adult, should take proper precautions. And, correct me if I’m wrong, Mr. smith could get in even more serious (Expletive deleted by site moderator), as I’m sure a condition of his bond is his being unable to be in the presence of children alone.

I know you’re trying to make a case and vouch for the character of your friend, but you’re letting valor get in the better part of your judgment. Think about it. Would you leave your purse with an accused bank robber?

i know this is an old article but oh well- the 12 year old boy is my best friend. it pains me to see ppl say that he has lied when he hasn’t. i see the pain that it has caused him alot. ill ask him what it is wrong and he will often say “smith”. he has told me that he has been scared of his guitar because he thought it was mr. smith. he is haunted but what this cruel man has done. he blames himself for what mr. smith did to another student, a girl. the girls older brother is one of his best friends he blames himself b/c he thinks if he said something earlier it wouldnt have happened to her. He is haunted by what mr smith has done. He would never lie about something like this

He is innocent until proven guilty. I know this man and his family and I promise you there is more to this story. This man has dedicated his life to the education of children and is slapped in the face with this horrid crime that I know he didn’t commit. This child needs help and isn’t getting it. He has ruined an innocent mans life and doesn’t realize the consequences of his lies.

First of all, he’s innocent unless proven guilty. Hopefully it’s all lies and the boy or someone else made it up.

In my opinion any adult with a 12 year old boy is a crime, but a man with a boy is even worse. There is no justification for this kind of activity, and I usually can justify about anything.

Robin is kind of an ambiguous name. M or F? OK, it’s M, but I had to click on the articles to know for sure…
