Robin Pickering, a sixth-grade language arts teacher at East Clinton Middle School in Lees Creek, Ohio has been indicted by a Clinton County grand jury on a charge of sexual battery.
It is alleged that Pickering committed the crime of sexual battery against a then 11-year-old student during the time period from Christmas Day 2006 through April 8, 2007.
Reportedly Pickering has been a teacher for 22 years, 12 of which she has spent in the East Clinton school district.
Pickering’s attorney says his client is astonished by the allegations.
Reportedly Pickering was indicted by the grand jury on Monday, arrested at the school campus on Tuesday, was arraigned on Wednesday and subsequently released on bond.
Pickering has reportedly be placed on unpaid administrative leave by the school system.

06/08/09 – Guilty Plea
Reportedly, Robin Pickering has pleaded guilty to sexual battery against a student.
Pickering faces a minimum of two years in prison and a maximum of eight years in prison.
Sentencing is set for July 20 to allow time for a pre-sentence investigation to be completed.
Reportedly, Pickering admitted in court documents to the sexual abuse of the child.
07/21/09 – Sentencing
Clinton County Common Pleas Court Judge John W. Rudduck has sentenced Robin Pickering to four years in prison for the sexual battery of an 11-year-old student.
The judge said Pickering “betrayed” the trust bestowed on her by the community, the young victim and the victim’s family.
Pickering has been classified a tier 3 sex offender, for which community notification will be required for her lifetime.

A sex scandal in Clinton County is something of an irony. There’s something about the name CLINTON and SEX SCANDAL that rings a bell.
Although I am not happy about the length of time Robin recieved, I am glad the truth finally came out. She admitted she did this, now all of you who went around town badmouthing a child and calling her a lier, can eat your words. Hopefully you feel horrible for making this already horrid experience even worse. To the parents who went around accusing this child of lying and spreading her name. Let me just say I sincerely hope your family never experiences what we have gone through, or your children go through what she went though, she helped make your children safer and you are ungrateful. You can’t even imagine the harm you have done to this young girl emotionally.
