Richard Alexander Vives, 42, a girls junior varsity soccer coach at Piner High School in Santa Rosa, California was arrested this morning on allegations of committing sex acts on a minor.
When Vives arrived at the school this morning he was arrested on suspicion of oral copulation on a person under age 18 and sexual penetration on a person under age 18.
School officials said that Vives was in his first year as a “walk on” coach at the school, having started last month.
Reportedly Vives has been under investigation for a week and authorities have not revealed any information on the alleged victim or victims.
Santa Rosa Police ask that anyone with information about the case to call detective Mike Musgrove at 543-3595.
10/15/08 - Additional Charges
Richard Vives is now facing a total of eight charges involving sexual acts with a minor, including allegations that a teenage victim was intoxicated or incapable of resisting.
In total Vives is now charged with seven felony counts and one misdemeanor count.
Vives is scheduled for formal arraignment on the charges on October 30th.
12/02/08 - Richard Vives Pleads No Contest
Richard Vives pleaded no contest Monday afternoon to committing oral copulation with a 16-year-old girl who was intoxicated and incapable of resisting.
Vives faces up to eight years in prison when he is sentenced January 23.

Vives cops a plea! What a lowlife. Now he is a registered Sex Offender for the rest of his pathetic life. Admits he’s guilty on 1 charge. In exchange, they drop 7 charges. Must have done some bad stuff to the young girl to admit guilt on 1 charge. Hopefully he will see prison time and get traded around for cigarettes. I hear they don’t like his kind in the joint!!!

(Deleted by site moderator) Vives was NOT a teacher nor was the supposed victim one of the students that he coached. Therefore, why is this story even on this website?? It is already on plenty of newspaper websites, but is should NOT be on a “bad teacher” website.
Also, LOOK DOWN, (Deleted by site moderator). How could you say “tough break for his daughters”?? They had nothing to do with it, and now have to live in this community with the stigma of what has happened. This is NOT their fault. So a little compassion would be appropriate, don’t you think? Are you kidding me? How dare you defend this man because he has an amazing family. This MINOR girl might have an amazing family also. I wish people would think about the victims before they defend the scumbags. My prayers are out to the GIRL and HER FAMILY!

What happened to innocent until proven guilty! This is ridiculous that the media creates criminals on only allegations. Shame on anyone who doesnt know anything about this man or who he really is and are passing judgement already.

How dare they publish this article? It was all over the PD, sweetheart. Tough break for his daughters that they have a perverted selfish (*******) dad but the media have done nothing wrong. If fact they’ve done the Santa Rosa and Sonoma County communities a huge service in making us aware who this sicko is.

How dare you publish this article. This man your talking about has 3 teen girls and they are now thrust into the spot light because of something their father commited!!! we need to remember he has a family an amazing family and that ssure hes a pig but whos falt is it really his sure more than half but also sick people out their the ad above this article said hot 18 year old girls. i cant tell you how mad i am about this my prayers are out to this family
