Richard Chad Forsythe, a former teacher at Herndon Middle School in Herdon, Virginia has pleaded guilty in Fairfax County Circuit Court to contributing to the delinquency of a minor and been sentenced to 12 months in jail with the entire sentence suspended.

Forsythe was originally arrested in Fairfax County on a charge of taking indecent liberties with a 17-year-old girl in his care.
His suspended sentence is contingent upon his pleading guilty and being sentenced in Loudoun County for custodial indecent liberties with the same victim.
Forsythe, who remains free on bond has been suspended without pay by the school system since his arrest in January 2007.
3/18/08 - Loudoun County Sentencing
Richard Chad Forsythe has been sentenced in Loudoun County for taking indecent liberties with a minor.
Forsythe was sentenced to two years in jail with all but 90 days of the sentence suspended. He will receive sex offenders counseling, will be on supervised probation for two years and will be required to register as a sex offender and have no contact with minors.

He was set up. Rich Forsythe is a kind and honest man who loved teaching and would never do anything to harm a student. He had a bad lawyer and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. This was not his fault and it is a very sad outcome. His whole life has been ruined by a lie.

EWW THATS SO NASTY HE WAS MY FAVORITE TEACHER IN MIDDLE SCHOOL[IM IN 11TH GRADE NOW] AND HELPED ME WITH SO MUCH. I CANT BELIEVE HE WOULD DO THIS. HE IS UGLY AN HAS A RECEDING HAIR LINE.
