It is alleged that Eidam hugged and kissed a 15-year-old boy in October. The boy has told police that Eidam had kissed him on the head and neck.

During the course of the investigation into allegations involving the 15-year-old, police interviewed another boy, now 18, who allegedly told them that Eidam would hug and kiss the him on the lips. The second boy told police the alleged incident took place during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 school years.

In both instances it is alleged that Eidam would tell the boys to stay behind in the classroom while other students were excused and were changing clothes.

Today Eidam turned himself in at a judge’s office and was released on a promise to show up for all court hearings.

Pending the conclusion of the case, Eidam has been suspended by the school, prohibited from being on campus or from contacting any students.

Richard Eidam has a court appearance set for March 3rd.

05/21/08 - All Charges Dismissed!

Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Donna Jo McDaniel has dismissed all charges against Richard Eidam, ruling that there was not enough evidence presented at Eidam’s preliminary hearing to hold the case for court.

Eidam’s attorney said, “There was really never a case” and the judge obviously agreed.

The Bad Bad Teacher Web site’s credibility might be enhanced by leaving off exclamation point punctuation from cases that are dismissed, or when the accused is found not guilty. That one grammatical editorial choice indicates the Webmaster’s incredulity that even one of these cases might not be factual, and undermines the site’s otherwise fine reporting efforts.

Actually the exclamation point is there for emphasis. Some folks ridicule us for not putting the dismissal or not guilty announcement in brightly colored and flashing text or some other gimmickry. No matter which way we go we receive complaints. Comes with the territory and that’s fine. - webmaster

How about some follow-up. The case was dismissed because the judge agreed there was no real case against him. Shouldn’t he be removed from this website?

The article has been updated to reflect the fact that all charges were dismissed and the entry has been flagged accordingly. In cases of charges being dismissed or not guilty verdicts being handed down, site policy is to leave the article in place reflecting the outcome of the case. If the article is simply deleted, internet archives such as Google will maintain cached copies of the original article less the outcome of the case. - webmaster
