Richard Carlsen, 36, a teacher aide at Howard Middle School in Ocala, Florida has been arrested and charged with unlawful sex acts with a minor and interference with child custody.
Carlsen is alleged to have performed sex acts one of the two brothers, ages 15 and 17-years-old, and helped them runaway from home.
Reportedly Carlsen mentored the brothers for years and often took them on out-of-town trips, with their mother’s permission. After Carlsen reportedly gave the 17-year-old a ring, the boys’ mother became concerned about Carlsen’s relationship with the boys and told them they could not see Carlsen anymore. The boys subsequently ran away from home.
Allegedly when police asked Carlsen if he knew where the boys were, he denied any knowledge of their whereabouts. It is further alleged that not only did Carlsen know where the boys were he helped them move from one hiding place to another and subsequently told them to go home.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies say that Carlsen admitted knowing where the boys were and to performing a sex act on the 17-year-old boy. Carlsen denied any other sexual activity.
Following his arrest and booking Carlsen was reportedly released on bond.
