Rev. Daniel McCormack Guilty
Posted by: Webmaster in Church Schools, Coaches, Hall of Shame, Illinois, ME-MV, MathThe Rev. Daniel McCormack, 38, a Roman Catholic priest from Chicago who served as parish priest at St. Agatha Catholic Church and an algebra teacher and boys’ coach at Our Lady of the Westside School has entered a guilty plea to five counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

McCormack’s guilty plea was to the aggravated criminal sexual abuse of five boys ranging in age from 8 to 12-years old in the rectory of St. Agatha Catholic Church where he served as parish priest.
Following his guilty plea McCormack was immediately sentenced to five years in prison on each count by Judge Thomas Sumner who ordered the sentence to run concurrently. McCormack was immediately taken into custody.
McCormack’s guilty plea not only avoids the victims having to testify at a trial it also eliminated the potential for humiliating testimony for the archdiocese, which has drawn intense criticism over its handling of the case, waiting months after allegations surfaced before removing McCormack from his positions of trust.
Victims advocates are discourage with both McCormack’s sentence and the fact that the Archdiocese of Chicago was not held to answer for its inaction in removing McCormack earlier.
