Maybe there’s a forum or something where we could hold our silly discussions on Peter Rabbit - that way we’re not mucking up the comments section of Rebecca Bogard.

I dunno, send me an email or something. Sound good?

I can understand using sick days for when you’re sick. I can justify using them as personal days since they are earned. And since hunting is usually better during the week, it’s a win win. Rest assured, once my sick days are used up it’ll be time to retire. Maybe I sub after I retire. This way I can pick the days I’ll work and the days I don’t want to work. Or maybe I’ll write a books for teachers like Harry Wong. I think my teaching style, classroom management and outlook on education is marketable.

I use my sick days for the rare instance when I am too ill to come to work. Imagine that!! There is something inherently dishonest about using them otherwise. If you don’t understand this then there is no point attempting to explain it to you.

Obviously you feel no sense of duty to your students or you wouldn’t dilleberately disrupt their courses with a substitute teacher. Maybe yours are the types of courses where it doesn’t matter. I personally would feel guilty about the quality of education provided my students being diminished because I selfishly wanted to pursue my hobbies.

Guaging your moral character by the content of your comments througout this website, I am not at all surprised that this type of thing doesn’t bother you at all.

I’m still 95% sure you’re lying about the whole thing which is a sad, sad statement in itself.

I hunt with some of the parents and they bring their kids, my students, and a few of them are females. I never go anywhere alone with students. As for using sick days, I have them so why not use them. Our contract only allows for 2 personal days, and we have to pay for the sub. If we use sick days the district pays for the sub and I have many, many, many sick days to use before I retire because I don’t get sick. We can’t sell them back. Last year I used sick days to take the principal and his friend hunting. The woods are too crowded on weekends. Once the lakes freeze over I’ll be using some of them for ice fishing. How do you guys use your sick days?

what i find “funny” is that u seem to care so little for the treatment of these students and what has happened to them but you take days off work to spend time with students “hunting”. one of the reasons i get so offended by your remarks is that when my brother was 15 he used to go “hunting” with one of my dad’s friends. this man molested my brother and it wasn’t b/c my brother “wanted it” as you seem to claim so many of these children do. he was taken advantage of by a “predator” who could see that based on our homelife (or lack there of) that he was vulnerable and wanted attention. many of these kids have no home life, don’t know what love is, and just want someone to pay attention to them. teachers who take advantage of this vulneraability are betraying the trust of their students. this is why i t is against the law. this is why people come down so harshly on these “adults” who do this to children. these kids are often lost and looking for guidance and teachers should not take advantage of this. plain and simple. the actions of this man have lead to many problems, including drug use, for my brother that continue to this day some 20 years later. the impact on the lives of these kids lasts a lifetime in many cases. now i know not all (like 18 year olds with their teachers) are “scarred for life” but in the end the teacher knows the law and if he/she chooses to break it then he/she should pay for that choice.

You must be a marvelous teacher to sow flippantly blow off your responsibilities and take sick days to go hunting. This is the same guy that took a sick day to rake leaves a couple weeks ago. So not only are your comments and attitude disgusting, your work ethic and commitment to education is appalling. Well done!

    Peter Rabbit Says:

Somebody, Biloxiteacher & A Good Teacher,

Sorry I didn’t reply sooner, but I’m back now. I took a couple sick days and went hunting with some of my students and their dads. I downed a big buck with an arrow. Soon gun season will arrive and I’ll have to take a couple more sick days and take another deer. As for my master degrees, one of them is a MBA with an emphasis in accounting and finance, so laugh all you want. What do you have? My students aren’t stoner, most of them are farmers. You know, the ones who get up at 4 AM so you and your families have something to eat and drink when you roll out of bed at 10 AM on the weekends. The same ones who have a work ethic like no other. We build and repair trailers, repair equipment, construction, etc., useful stuff. What do you guys teach?

  8. 1282
    Somebody Says:

Peter Rabbit, you got 2 master’s degrees to teach stoners how to make ash trays and book cases?!? HAAA! What exactly did you get these degrees in? Power Saws? Lathe Operation?

    TwoCents Says:

Puzzlement to why if one teacher is accused of something wrong then why are the rest demons? That sounds what the majority is saying here. I for one think somewhat more positive in my life. I think everyone needs some wiggle room. I do not blame someone for what you said, there has to be some proof of it. Proof from a good source, a good person. In reading this blog and others there is much to be desired in truthfulness. Some have spoken with compassion, even those that are not supportive of the teacher or the kid. But, most have spoken with vengeance and hatred for the teacher . I suppose you were there, you saw, you heard, you knew exactly what was done. You sad folks who condemn people before a trial, you are shameful.
