Rebecca Dawn Bogard, 27, a science teacher at the Center for New Opportunities, an alternative school in Biloxi, Mississippi, has been charged with one count of sexual battery on a male student under 16 years of age.
Bogard who has taught in the Biloxi school system for three years came to the attention of authorities by way of a complaint from the boy’s parents.
Following her arrest Bogard was released on $50,000 bond.
1/23/08 – Suspended By School System
Rebecca Bogard has been suspended with pay by the school system.
It was also revealed that Bogard was crowned the Biloxi Shrimp Bowl queen in 1996, which may or may not matter in anything…
1/30/08 – Preliminary Hearing Waived
The Sun Herald is reporting that not only has Rebecca Bogard waived her preliminary hearing but also that she admitted to police a sexual relationship with the boy, who she allegedly referred to as “her little sex fiend”.
According to the Sun Herald, Mrs. Bogard indicated that sex occurred in her Jaguar which bears the license place, “GRRRRR”.

1/31/08 – Bogard Resigns
According to Biloxi Schools Superintendent Dr. Paul Tisdale, Rebecca Bogard submitted her resignation Wednesday.

Hours before Rebecca Bogard submitted her resignation she reportedly e-mail her colleagues the following statement:
Please TRUST me in that I did not admit to everything that was printed in today’s paper. I truly appreciate your words of support and encouragement. Please continue to pray for my family and me. Thank you, Rebecca Bogard.

09/16/08 – Grand Jury Indictment
Rebecca Bogard has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of exploitation of a child, touching of a child for lustful purposes and statutory rape.
If convicted of all charges Bogard could face as much as 65 years in prison.
09/17/08 – Additional Details on Charges
The nature of the allegations contained in the grand jury indictment of Rebecca Bogard has been revealed.
The three charges are based on allegations that Bogard:
(1) used text messages to persuade a child under 18 to meet for the purpose of engaging in sexually explicit conduct
(2) touched or rubbed her mouth and hands on the body of a child under age 16
(3) had sexual intercourse with a child at least age 14 but younger than 16
Bogard remains free in $50,000 bond to await arraignment and eventual trial.
10/08/09 – Case Update
Rebecca Dawn Bogard has reportedly been sentenced to seven years in prison with all but one year suspended.
10/09/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing
In a plea deal with prosecutors, Rebecca Bogard pleaded guilty to statutory rape. Charges of exploitation of a child and touching of a child for lustful purposes.
The judge sentenced Bogard to seven years in prison, then suspended six of those years, leaving one year to serve to be followed by three years probation.
The judge also ordered Bogard to give up her teaching certificate and to register as a convicted sex offender.

Out of town for several days, looks as though nothing has changed here except that some people keep referring to that kid as a poor unfortunate child. My goodnes–what a sham–!!!

party of both – So you are helping the kid get his GED? The dude does not have a snowball’s chance in **** in passing the tests if YOU are helping him. You can NOT write your way out of a wet paper bag – no punction, no upper-case letters. I am surprised anyone can understand anything you say!!
Some of us know who Semperfi is and believe me – this person knows what went down. Those of you who try to dispute what the Sempifi person says, you are wasting your time.
I honestly hope and pray that the boy will rise above all of this and make something of himself. He most likely would be better off getting OUT of his present environment, in other words, away from his Momma and other people that are a bad influence.

Your writing is a farce. AND the facts are straight! I hope if you are teaching GED it is not in English or punctuation! And I can GUARANTEE you are not close to BOTH parties if you are close to the teacher! What kind of intelligent person would call the blogger Essense “some fool wanting attention?” Yea, we believe you!!! LMAO Who are you really?????
So what having a tough life does not give you the right to shoot folks, to talk without respect, to do drugs and or alcohol in school. There are alot of people who have tough lives. I do not buy the boy has had it tougher than someone else. Bet he doesn”t dress poor or his family. The only thing this boy hasn’t had is parental guidance. His mother doesn’t sound as though she is capable of anything than a LALA life,living in a fantasy. No mention of a father and with most they have no idea who they are and if they did know they took off years. Don’t say poor pitiful boy, for there are many a single Mom that has done a great job raising children. Kids that are a treat to teach, not some thug. “Party of both”—you are so pathetic. It’s about time the kid some kid of education—I get tired paying taxes for all these under achievers. There was no silver spoon in my mouth—I worked hard for every thing I had–school, college and enjoying working.

Biloxi Teacher I was way ahead of you my friend!!! So don’t you think you did something great by ratting on something that you thought was your business. You see that person you thought was the boy was not writing to you;—-he was responding to me. Another thing you don’t know half the story. If were your business someone would have discussed the matter with you. I believe the people involved know who I am,so that’s our business not yours. Thanks for the interest,but nothing you say makes any differs. The teacher did what she thought was right and that is pretty much done with. There is nothing you could say that really matters. Of course the boy has told one lie to cover the other lies—-so has his mother—-she blamed the teacher several times on some trump accusations that did not even happen. The police know that she knows that too. She will become a complete liar to the public, all on her own selfishness. But that her decision!——dumb and dumber.
