Phillip Beeson
(04/30/08 - Initial BBT Report)
Phillip Samuel Beeson, 53, a social studies teacher and girls’ basketball coach at New Bern High School in New Bern, North Carolina has been arrested on two counts of misdemeanor assault on a female.

It is alleged that Beeson engaged in inappropriate behavior with two female students. Arrest warrants reportedly suggest that Beeson touched the two female students on their chests on school grounds.
Following his arrest Beeson was reportedly released on $5,000 bond.
The alleged incidents are said to have happened in September and October 2007, but the school system didn’t turn the case over to police until February.
Beeson has been on administrative leave since February.
06/11/08 - Charges Dismissed
Charges against Phillip Beeson have been dismissed.
The charges were dismissed after the two teenage girls in the case had their attorney request that their subpoenas be quashed.
Reportedly the parents of both girls said they didn’t think Beeson had assaulted their daughters.

These girls should be expelled from school charged with filing a false police report. The teacher should SUE the living cr*p out of the girl’s families.

I am wondering if you will be removing Mr. Beeson from your website since the New Bern Sun Journal has reported that all charges against him were dismissed in court today!!! The Sun Journal reported that the father of one girl and the mother of the other girl both testified that they did not believe that their daughters had been assaulted. They also reported that at the end of the hearing his students that were present in the courtroom congratulated him!!! I know Phillip Beeson personally and think he is a person of great character that loves to teach. I am so happy that this day is over for him and hope that it has not ruined his carrer.
.
Just moments ago we updated the case coverage to reflect the dismissal of charges.
.
Normally we do NOT remove coverage of an individual found not guilty or against whom charges have been dismissed.
.
The reasoning behind this policy is two fold.
.
First, if we covered the arrest/charges against the former accused we have a responsibility to also cover the fact that they were either found not guilty or charges against them were dismissed prior to trial.
.
Second, if we simply delete the page associated with the case it will still exist in various internet archives such as Google, possibly forever, and will still be indicating that the accused was arrested/charged but with no resolution to the allegations. By keeping the page intact and clearly reflecting the favorable outcome for the accused we reduce the odds of this happening.
.
All that said, we will delete completely our coverage of a person found not guilty or against whom charges are dismissed if that individual requests it in spite of our recommendation against that course of action.
