Pamela Balogh, 39, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania a field hockey coach and teacher at North Hunterdon High School in Annandale, New Jersey has rejected a plea offer that would have landed her in state prison for up to eight years.

Balogh is charged with sexually assaulting a female student while a teacher and coach at Immaculata High School, a Catholic private school, in Somerville, New Jersey
Balogh was indicted on charges of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree charges of aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.
The charges are the result of the alleged sexual abuse of a then 15-year-old student and member of the girls basketball team December 2004 and September 2005. The girl told school officials that Balogh assaulted her on numerous occasions, primarily in the coach’s office but also at other unspecified locations in Somerset County, New Jersey.
Balogh who had previously rejected a plea deal that would have required her to spend 10 years in prison, is set for trial on October 1st. If convicted of all charges she faces up to 40 years in prison.
Balogh was a star woman’s basketball player at Temple University and is the school’s all-time leading scorer and is in the school’s Hall Of Fame. She coached the Immaculata High School girls basketball team to a string of basketball championships.
11/25/07 - Trial To Begin
The trial of Pamela Balogh on charges of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact is set to begin on Tuesday.
In July Balogh turned down a plea deal that would have involved an 8 year prison sentence. If convicted at trial she faces up to 40 years in prison.
12/06/07 - Split Verdict
The jury composed of 9 men and thee women has convicted Pamela Balogh of of second-degree sexual assault, third-degree aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. Balogh faces up to ten years in prison as a result of the guilty verdicts.
The jury found Balogh not guilty of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, a charge that carried a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison.
Pam Balogh admitted Tuesday in testimony during her trial on sexual-assault charges that she had a sexual relationship with one of her players. Balogh testified, “I knew it was wrong.”.
05/09/08 - Sentencing
Pamela Balogh was sentenced today to seven years in prison.
Balogh received a seven-year sentence for second-degree sexual assault, four years for third-degree criminal sexual contact and one year for fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. All sentences are to run concurrently.
