Stephanie Jo Walters, 27, an eighth-grade teacher at Musselman Middle School in Bunker Hill, West Virginia has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old male student.

Walters has been charged with sexual abuse by a person of trust to a child.
Walters turned herself into the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department and was arraigned on Friday. At her arraignment, Magistrate W. Randy Smith set bail at $20,000 and Walter was subsequently released on bail.
It is alleged that the boy told Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department that he got Walter’s mobile phone number at a basketball game in December 2008, and began receiving text messages of a sexual nature from Walters in February. The boy also allegedly told investigators that he received sexually explicit messages from Walters through MySpace.
Walters allegedly confided in a female student that she and the 14-year-old male student made out and she had let him touch her breasts and kiss her on April 3rd.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department, the alleged sexual misconduct began in February and school officials were alerted on April 22 when a student revealed that the alleged victim and teacher were sending text messages to one another.
Walters has been on administrative leave since April 22.

Stephanie Jo Walters has reportedly been fired by the school system.
10/22/09 – Grand Jury Indictment
Reportedly, a Berkeley County grand jury has indicted Stephanie Jo Walters on one count of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust, third-degree sexual abuse and solicitation of a minor through use of a computer.
Walters remains free on bail while awaiting future court proceedings.
10/29/09 – Arraignment
Attorney B. Craig Manford has entered not guilty pleas on behalf of Stephanie Jo Walters to counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust, third-degree sexual abuse and solicitation of a minor through the use of a computer.
A trial was scheduled for February 9th.
