Bad Bad Teacher

(3/11/08 – Initial BBT Report)

Nestor Eloy Mora, 30, a teacher’s aide at Pioneer Middle School in Wenatchee, Washington has been arrested and charged with third-degree rape of a child, third-degree child molestation and with possessing child pornography.

Mora allegedly sexually assaulted the 14-year-old male student last year.

Mora who has worked at Washington Elementary, Lewis and Clark Elementary and Pioneer Middle School has reportedly admitted to kissing the boy and performing oral sex upon him.

Mora has been placed on paid leave and is set to enter a plea on March 19th.

3/19/08 – Arraignment

Nestor Mora appeared for arraignment today in Chelan County Superior Court and entered a plea of not guilty to all charges.

Trial for Mora has been set for May 6.

The Wenatchee World reports that both teachers and a school administrator were concerned about Mora’s behavior with students even prior to his arrest and that school administrators had brought the matter to Mora’s attention. See the Wenatchee World reports listed below for details.

04/16/08 – Guilty Plea

Nestor Mora has pleaded guilty to third-degree child molestation, third-degree rape of a child and possessing depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Reportedly Mora hoped to obtain a lighter sentence by pleading guilty.

The prosecution recommended a 20 month sentence, Mora faces up to 46 months in prison.

06/04/08 – Sentencing

Nestor Mora has been sentenced to 17 months in prison.

06/12/08 – Feds Amend Charges

In the wake of Nestor Mora’s plea deal with state prosecutors, federal prosecutors have came back and amended federal charges to add a charge of possession of child pornography against Mora.

Mora was already facing federal charges for receiving child pornography.

08/21/08 – Trial on Child Pornography Charges Delayed

The federal child pornography trial of Nestor Mora scheduled to begin on Monday has been rescheduled until September 8th after Mora’s federal public defender wanted more time to review evidence.

Also Mora’s defense attorney hinted that additional charges may be forthcoming.

09/10/08 – Plea Deal on Child Pornography Charges

Nestor Mora will get a 10-year prison sentence for one count of receiving child pornography via the Internet if a federal judge goes along with a deal reached between Mora and federal prosecutors.

Formal sentencing is set for December 5th and the judge is not bound by the 10 year deal between prosecutors and Mora’s defense. The judge could sentence Mora to a prison term between 5 and 20 years and a fine of up to $250,000.

Also, the judge will decide if the 17-month prison sentence Mora received in Chelan County Superior Court will be added to the federal sentence or run concurrently.

In exchange for the guilty plea to one child pornography charge, prosecutors dropped a second child pornography charge.

12/11/08 – Sentencing On Federal Charge

A federal judge has sentenced Nestor Mora to 10 years in prison for receiving child pornography via the Internet.

The judge ruled that the 10-year sentence will run consecutively to the 17-month sentence Mora received in Chelan County Superior Court in April on convictions of child rape, child molestation and luring.
