Michael Mason, a former special education teacher at LBJ High School in Austin, Texas who pleaded guilty to sexual assault of one of his students has been sentenced.

Mason who was indicted on 11 counts by a Travis County grand jury in connection with a sexual assault of a student in September 2004 pleaded guilty to counts of sexual assault of a child and to having an improper relationship between an educator and student.

As a result of his plea deal Mason received 10 years of deferred adjudication, which is basically probation, and will be required to be registered as a sex offender for life.
