Michael Kelly Reiner, 48, a former teacher at the Long Island School for the Gifted in Huntington Station, New York has been sentenced in federal court to 6 1/2 years in prison for possession of child pornography.

Prosecutors said that Reiner had hundreds of still and video images of children on several computers when he was arrested in September 2006 and some of the images depicted sex acts between adults and children younger than 5 years old.

The judge rejected the defense’s arguments that Reiner received the images by accident and had tried to delete them five years ago.
