Michael J. Douglas, 41, a former science teacher at Mount View Junior High School in Thorndike, Maine has been arrested on allegations of possessing child pornography.
Douglas is charged with a felony count of possession of sexually explicit materials that depict children younger than 12.
Douglas came to the attention of authorities on March 31st when School Administrative District 3 Superintendent Joseph Mattos called police reporting that Douglas had “a state-issued computer containing child pornography”.
It is alleged that in an interview with investigators that Douglas admitted that over the course of years he had viewed child pornography on the Internet.
It is further alleged that Douglas told investigators that he had viewed depicted a range of individuals, from children as young as toddlers up to and including adult women and that the same images found on the school-issued laptop could be found on his home computer.
Following his arrest, Douglas was taken to Kennebec County jail and was subsequently released later the same day on $1,000 bail.
Douglas is scheduled to appear in district court on May 28th.
Douglas resigned from Mount View Junior High School on April 3.

A Waldo County grand jury has indicted Michael Douglas for possession of explicit materials.

That guy was one of my science teachers. I though the was the coolest… but man he sucks
Has this ever seen the light of a courtroom? I know that he pled not-guilty but I have no idea whether or not it’s gone to trial as of yet.
i was one of his students. i had him for social studies, language arts, and study hall, and also homeroom. he was my favorite teacher. I wrote an essay on him in the 8th grade about how he was my hero. i feel so digusted with myself. i still have my essay.. i just want to rip it up and never think of him again. But it was such a good piece of writing..
