Michael Calnon, 42, a former math teacher and basketball coach at Upper Dauphin High School in Elizabethville, Pennsylvania has been arrested and charged with corruption of minors, unlawful contact with a minor and indecent assault on allegations that he sent text messages with inappropriate and sometimes sexual content to eight female students.

Calnon came to the attention of authorities after a 17-year-old female student allegedly received text messages of a sexual nature from Calnon.
As the investigation of the initial complaint progressed others came forward and the number of alleged victims rose to eight.
The school system conducted its own investigation and initially suspended Micahel Calnon.
On October 14th the school system fired Calnon from his teaching position.
Calnon resigned from his coaching position.
10/24/08 Update
Michael Calnon was arraigned today on eight counts of indecent assault.
Reportedly Calnon has been released on $75,000 unsecured bail.
10/25/08 – Additional Information
Subsequent news reports indicate that on Friday Michael Calnon was arraigned on seven counts of corruption of minors, four counts of indecent assault and three counts of unlawful contact with a minor.
The later reports indicates that there are nine female students that are alleged victims.
It was also reported that Calnon was the boys’ girls’ head basketball coach at Line Mountain before going to Upper Dauphin.

01/20/09 – Preliminary Hearing Waived.
Michael Calnon has waived a preliminary hearing on seven counts of corruption of minors, four counts of indecent assault and three counts of unlawful contact with a minor.
The waiver means the case will proceed to Dauphin County Court.
03/05/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Michael Calnon, in a plea deal with prosecutors, pleaded guilty to eight counts of corruption of minors.
Other charges, including felony counts of unlawful contact with a minor were dropped as part of the plea deal.
Under the terms of the plea deal, Calnon surrendered his teaching certificate and was sentenced to a probationary term of 10 years.
Additionally, Calnon has to complete sex offender counseling, may not seek employment that involves children, and has restricted use of computers.

Poor woman~ she is standing by the sick pervert. She deserves what she get’s. How could you even touch a pervert that is excited by a teenage girl?????
She does work at the school… what does that mean to those elementary children????

What a piece of garbage. It’s not like he had a “forbidden” love for a 17 year old student and just couldn’t wait to express how he felt. No, this pervert sent out feelers to 8 female students…just waiting for a nibble.
I understand his wife works for the same school district. The poor woman – the shame and humiliation she is made to feel by this disgusting creep makes her a victim as well.

OK, I give I don’t get it. He was fired from his teaching job but not as a coach??? He was allow to resign?!?
