Matthew Edward McGuire, 29, of Alexandria, Virginia a teacher and coach at Chantilly High School in Chantilly, Virginia has been arrested in an internet sex sting.
McGuire is charged with attempted indecent liberties with a minor and use of a computer to solicit sex with a minor.
McGuire’s arrest is the result of an on-line sting conducted by an Arlington, Virginia detective assigned to the regional Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

1/30/08 - Bail Denied
Citing the difficulty in regulating McGuire’s access to the Internet, a judge on Tuesday denied McGuire’s request for bail.
McGuire’s next court date is February 20.

he was one of the track coaches.
he coached track and field and he is a really good friend of mine. ive known him for a while and he’s such a great guy. this is so crazy!
man, I used to know Matt while I was a student at tc williams high school in alexandria. This is a very sad story and I hate to see him screw up his life like this, but he needs help.

The comment which previously appeared here was challenged as being a forgery in the name of an individual who did not make the comment. The original comment and the challenge to the authenticity of that comment had different e-mail addresses associated with each. We were able to verify the e-mail address of the challenger. I don’t know what’s more disturbing, Matt’s deviant behavior or the number of people who clearly want to burn him at the stake. I’m not condoning his actions. What he did was wrong. He should spend time in jail, but people, realize that there are always deeper, more painful answers to a lot of these issues. It’s possible Matt was himself abused or taken advantage of when he was younger. He needs help.
This is all very sad news to me as I did have Mr. McGuire as a teacher but I do agree with some of the other posts that it isn’t surprising. He always seemed a little too friendly, too eager and too interested in the prettier girls in the class. He did have his favorites and I also knew from another student that he would often text message girls from his classes. I hope he gets the help he needs but I also hope he never is allowed in a classroom again!
Yea I had him for spanish last year and for track during this season and the last. He was a good teacher but some times crossed the lines by playing pranks on the girls when they leave his class to use the bathroom. He actually one time took a girls cell phone from her purse while she was away and called himself..so that later he would have her number. With all that said it wasnt really much of a shock this happened but still surprising it did. Sadly i was one of the about 7 last people who saw him the night before he was taken into cutody. Im sure he will learn from this experience. Lastly i have to admit one thing that is funny. The shirt in his Mug Shot Photo was the same one i saw him wear earlier the night before.
Coach McGuire crossed the line many times in my book. He lusted after a few girls on the track team and even tried to take one girl out on a date. He would sometimes just stare at girls in a wierd way that made them uncomfortable. He is so gross. I’m glad he’s in jail where he belongs.

I went to high school with this guy and was on the track team with him. He was a good person back then and this news really upsets me. I’m a teacher as well and know that high school girls and boys can be tempting but you just don’t cross that line no matter what! Especially if you want to keep your job!

I applaud Mr. Manners’ courage in speaking out about this where so many parents have remained silent, fearing retribution from mr. mcguire’s team of lawyers. Dave you are walking a thin line between right and wrong buddy. 13 is probably too young to go after but 16 or 17 is perfectly normal. The girls at the high school I teach at are banging hot and they certainly don’t dress like they are innocent at all. It’s legal to have sex with a 16 year old girl in the state of Virginia which is why I don’t leave the state much if you catch my drift.

What high school do you teach at Andrew?
I teach at a bunch of different schools as a substitute. T.C. Williams, Mini Howard (aka Mini HaHa), George Washington Jr. High School and Jefferson Houston. I want to get a job teaching special education to elementary kids. High school kids can be mind wreckers.

I read about this guy in the Washington Post and it seems the media has decided to ignore the case. Did his lawyers run an injunction to stop the media coverage in order to protect him? His whereabouts should be known for our childrens safety and lets hope he is registered as a sex offender now. His teaching career must be over but you have to wonder if he will be able to get a decent job ever again? Doubtful but you never know.

There is no denying that McGuire is a panty sniffer and into tween. In high school he was caught smelling this girls underwear in her room at a party and on a separate occasion he stole the same girls underwear. He would make bizarre comments about some of his students from time to time that left everyone quite puzzled. McGuire is on suspension WITHOUT pay and has been recommended for termination but still has not been fired due to the pending legal matters. His lawyers are trying to get him out of this mess but he is still in jail and has been since January. That’s almost half a year for him but he should be in prison for 6 years minimum if you ask me. I heard from my friend that he once showed some students porn on his computer during an overnight track trip and then paid off two of the students to not say anything about it. He is a sick corrupt person who needs to think about his actions long and hard in jail.

I never had McGuire as a teacher myself but I do go to Chantilly High School and he did try to hook up with my girlfriend on several occasions.
