Mark Yarmey, 52, of Louisville, Kentucky, a 10th- and 11th-grade electronics teacher at Prosser School of Technology in New Albany, Indiana has been charged in Louisville with use of a minor in a sexual performance and first-degree sodomy.
It is alleged that nine years ago Yarmey took nude pictures of a then 11-year-old girl and while the girl’s mother was allegedly in the room at the time. It is further alleged that when the girl’s mother left, that Yarmey forced the girl to perform oral sex upon him. It is also alleged that Yarmey scanned at least some of the pictures into his computer.
Reportedly the alleged victim, now 20, came forward some time ago and an investigation was undertaken which required some time to complete.
Following his arrest Yarmey was held on $35,000 bond.
Reportedly the arrest report indicates that when investigators showed Yarmey some pictures, and when asked if he took them, Yarmey said, “If they were in the same series, then I took them.”
Yarmey has been placed on paid administrative leave by the school.
04/15/08 – Grand Jury Indictment
Mark Yarmey has been indicted by a grand jury in Louisville, KY on counts of sodomy and use of a minor in a sexual performance.
Yarmey remains free on $35,000 bond.
12/15/09 – Guilty Verdict and Sentencing Deal
On Monday, a jury found Mark Yarmey guilty of using a minor in a sexual performance. The jury could not reach a verdict on the sodomy charge.
On Tuesday, Yarmey and prosecutors came to a deal on sentencing which will result in Yarmey being sentenced to serve 15 years in prison.
Yarmey will be eligible for parole after serving 12 years and 3 months of his sentence.
Yarmey will be formally sentenced in March.

One Bourbon/One Scotch/One Beer…Here’s to my Teacher Mark Yarmey. BTW I’ve gotten my Master Electrician’s License. I don’t condone his actions in any way but he is a great teacher and I appreciate him for that…Apparently he hooked up with some Lil bar fly HO that was out of her mind to begin with. Did she get convicted for Exploiting A Minor…Nope!
Mr. Yarmey was my Electrical Teacher Back in 97 98. I looked up to him like no other and he’s the only teacher I’ve ever had that believed in me. Sorry you took this path Mark but you are still my hero. Les Martin
FINALLY, a little bit of justice for this victim. Hope he rots for the rest of his life. He still cannot admit to whathe has done. Jerk, whatever he gets he deserves.

You have no clue what your talking about, the victim in this case is recieving NO monitary gain from prosicuting the man who abused her. She is asking for nothing but justice this is no scandle or set up the charges have NOT been droped and the trial is set for early December i hope that (Expletive deleted by site moderator) rots in HELL and after all is said and done and he is behind bars you will know the truth the victim is not a greedy (Expletive deleted by site moderator) she was 11 years old when Yarmey forced her on her knees and made her preform oral sex AFTER taking naked pictures of her. How would you feel if that were your sister or daughter!

Yarmey didn’t do anything. It was a money extorsion threat gone wild. A very long story that I won’t go into detail. The media got wind of the initial arrest, fueled by a certain lawyer, and went wild with it. You know how the “news” will publish anything like a story of this nature, even before the facts have been revealed. They could care less if they ruin a mans reputaion, let alone his life, guilty or not. Gotta have a dramatic story to keep people hooked.
From what I heard the charges had been all dropped. Lack of evidence maybe? Yarmey will never be able to teach again. Early retirement or back to an electrical trade are his best options. My guess is that he will move away from this area, to a new life away from the scandal. Hope the greedy b!tch who tried to chissle money out of several people will get whats coming to her…All I got to say about that!

Such a shame. Had this guy as a teacher almost a decade ago, loved his class. Had been teaching for almost twenty years. One could only hope that this is some sort of a set up, if not, he was one dumb sonuvabitch!
