Mark Litton, 33, an English teacher at Miramonte High School in Orinda, California has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 17-year-old former student.
Reportedly, Litton was arrested Thursday on a charge of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
Prosecutors say the girl was a 2009 Miramonte graduate who recently reported the sex to authorities.
Litton was booked into jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

05/21/10 – No Contest Plea
Reportedly, Mark Litton has pleaded no contest to two counts of statutory rape, two counts of sexual penetration of a person under the age of 18 and one count of oral copulation of a person under the age of 18.
Litton will reportedly serve two years in state prison.
Litton will not be required to register as a sex offender.
I had Mr. Litton as a senior and although for the most part he was a different thinking and fair teacher, at times he treated me a little too nicely, giving me his number and asking me to coffee. I had also heard of other girls that he took a little too much of a liking to. Obviously I don’t know what actually happened, but when I heard he was arrested I wasn’t too surprised. I feel awful for his family.
Only God knows what happened. The truth will come out it always does sooner or later. Praying for his family.

MARTINEZ — A Miramonte High School teacher has pleaded not guilty to charges he had sex with a 17-year-old girl.
Mark Christopher Litton, 34-year-old Walnut Creek resident, was charged Monday with five felony counts stemming from allegations that he had sex with a minor on July 2 and July 4 in Walnut Creek.
Prosecutors say the girl was a 2009 Miramonte graduate who recently reported the sex to authorities.
“After considering what had happened, she felt that it wasn’t right,” deputy district attorney Jon Yamaguchi said.
Litton, an English teacher, was arrested at the high school on Sept. 10. He remains jailed in lieu of $270,000 bail. He entered his not guilty plea Tuesday and returns to court next week to set a preliminary hearing date.
Anyone know where about Mr. Litton lived? He sounds familiar and looks familiar. I hope it’s not the family I am thinking of.
Litton is an a** – he not only went after students – rumor has it he had a “relationship” with a co- worker
I totally agree with john and Meredith I also had mr. Litton for English my junior year and he was one of the most inspirational and intelligent teachers I’ve ever had. I say all of you that are crucifying him before the sentence should go f youtselves and leave him and his family alone. Btw he was obsessed with his wife and children. How can you guys judge someone without ever meeting them?! Leave him alone and let the police do their job. If he did it I will personly be devastated but will always remember him as the great teacher that let me in his class during lunch with other students to watch soccer games. I pray for mr. Litton and his family and hope they will somehow get through this horrible chapter in their lives.
This is why people get screwed over regardless of whether or not they’re guilty, becuase people always assume they’re guilty. It’s innocent until proven guilty not the other way around. And he is a very good teacher, the only good english teacher i’ve had at miramonte. So stfu until there’s a sentence passed.
I agree with Merideth. Mr. Litton was one of the most intelligent, hilarious, and insightful people I ever knew. I admired him so much and even if this is proven to be true, I will always remember him for the great teacher he was. I am just sorry this happened – this has been a truly devastating event for everyone involved.
Does it really MATTER if it was a boy or girl student? Seriously?? He abused his power and took advantage of a child.

In defense of Mr. Litton, he is an amazing teacher: interesting, interactive, and accepting of all opinions as long as each opinion has support. His teaching style should be admired depite this recent incident.
Wow…, I went to school with this guy at Las Lomas HS. Class of 1994. He was a strange dude back then as well. His parents and family must be heartbroken. A real shame.
