Maggie Laughlin, 23, a math teacher at Shore Junior High School in Mentor, Ohio has been arrested and charged with sexual battery and and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor on allegations that he had sex with a 15-year-old male student.
It is alleged that during the last two weeks of the school term that a sexual relationship developed between Laughlin and the boy. The incidents are alleged to have occurred in Laughlin’s classroom at the school before the start of the school day and consisted of Laughlin performing oral sex on the boy.
Laughlin came to the attention of police by way of a notification from school officials who were contacted by the boy’s ex-girlfriend’s mother.
She was arrested on Wednesday and was arraigned Thursday morning.
Bond was set in the amount of $200,000 with a 10 percent option. Reportedly the high bond is owing in part to Laughlin’s planning to move to Michigan to be with her fiance and where she had already accepted a position at an all-boys school. Reportedly Laughlin resigned from the school earlier this month.
When asked how Laughlin and the student were able to use her classroom for sex without being caught a schools spokesperson said that the school had been built in 1949 and had some blind corners and that Laughlin’s classroom had a blind corner.
(08/14/08 – Guilty Plea
Maggie Laughlin has pleadged guilty to having illegal sexual conduct with a student.
Laughlin pleaded guilty to eight counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a juvenile and faces up to 18 months in prison when she is sentenced later this month.
Laughlin told the judge, “I became involved with a student and the relationship became sexual in nature and I performed oral sex on him”.
08/27/08 – Sentencing
Maggie Laughlin has been sentenced to 3 years in prison the result of her guilty plea 8 counts of unlawful sexual contact with a juvenile.
Laughlin faced the possibility of up to 12 years in prison. Her attorney sought probation, the prosecution sought the 3 year prison term which was granted by the judge.
09/02/08 – Update on Sentencing
In addition to her prison time Maggie Laughlin is required to maintain her registration as a sex offender for a period of 25 years.
She is also required to relinquish her teaching license.

01/06/09 – Request For Early Release Denied
In November, Maggie Laughlin’s request for early release from prison was denied in a hearing before the judge that sentenced her.
At the time Laughlin had served only three months of her three year prison sentence after pleading guilty to eight counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a juvenile,
04/07/09 – Next Early Release Hearing Delayed
An early release hearing originally scheduled for April 15 has been rescheduled to April 22.
Laughlin has served approximately 8 months of her 3 year sentence and reportedly Lake County Prosecutor Charles Coulson said he probably would not object to her early release.

I have known her since Kindergarten and she has been stuck up since day 1. I wish she had gotten the full 12 years and had to serve everyday. She got lucky she was released early, although she need not show her face in West Carrollton Ohio again. I’ll be watching for her, I have two sons of my own. I wonder if she’ll have the nerve to show to our 2013 reunion…Guess we’ll see in a few years…
I think it was not only two weeks oral sex in the classroom. She was more stupid (love?). That were was only the initial charges in conexion with the deal with de DA. In other blog, a friend close to both them said that, the flort started in January and became in 2 months of romantic and sexual relations, and is very credible after reading her yearbook message to the student:
“What an incredible few weeks it’s been,” she wrote. “To be honest, I never thought in a million years we’d be as close as we are. I will always treasure the time we spent together, both [B]IN AND OUT OF THE CLASSROOM[/B]. You mean more to me than I could possibly say. I will never regret anything, that’s for sure.
“I know how hard it must have been for you some times. Everything’s so complicated, but what can I say? But [B]EVEN AFTER MY NAME CHANGES/B], I will still care very deeply for you. What’s left of my heart that I have to give belongs to you. I refuse to think of tomorrow as the end. I’ll be waiting Friday night and every night to hear my cell phone tell me you are texting me. I will miss seeing you, but as long as I have your words, it’s like you’re here with me.”

Also, after the first hearing she had been told not to communicate with the boy and she contacted him via instant messenger and told him to deny they had any relationship.

To me is pretty obvious that he has issues and lack of morals.
What did she have to gain from performing oral sex on that kid? The kid didn’t go down on her, so she really didn’t teach him how to do anything.
Congratulations! Maggie you threw everything away, career (that you worked so hard for, college is tough, not that Owl [August] would know), boyfriend and reputation.
Do they teach ethics class to future teachers in college? If so, they should really use Maggie as an example.
According to the Ohio Sex Offender Registry, Maggie now works in an office. She probably answers phones all day. Way to go Maggie, you could have gotten that job without a college degree or having to go to jail.
And she has to register as a sex offender during 25 years. Now, she’ll be seen as a SO. She ruined her life only for a few BJ. She lost her freedom, her beauty, her job. I wonder what she thinks now.
Ya, I would agree with you Phil, she really does look older in her released from prison picture. She may have only served 13 months of 3 year sentence, but she’s stilled screwed. She has a felony on her record and that’s serious. Felons can’t vote, can’t own firearms, and can’t get a decent paying job. She pretty much has to work a menial job for the rest of her life. I wonder if Maggie will ever stumble on this web site?
She was released next Wedneseday, afetr 13 months in prison or jail. She looks very older in the picture.Does Nick know if Maggie was involved in sex acts in prison ?
MAGGIE LAUGHLIN-I never felt Maggie was hot, I just found her interesting. She’s interesting because she never denied having a relationship with one of her student’s. You have to give her credit, she “manned up” and admitted her crime. Often, teachers that are caught sleeping with their students lie about it. They drag these cases out for months, trying to plea bargain their way out of any punishment. Maggie cools because she didn’t do any of that.
I trust your telling the truth and you really were in prison with her. What was she like? Does Maggie have friends? I imagine Maggie being a loner. She probably isolates herself on purpose because she thinks she’s better than everyone else. She probably reads all the time, this gives her a way to ignore everyone.
well she now sits back at the county jail waiting for her judicial release. i was in prison with her and YES she acted above and beyond everyone. she said that as long as the new judge (gibson) was elected he would let her out. to me that is disgusting and she should consider herself lucky she only received 3 years whwn each count carried 18 months. as for her being HOT!!!! she is not. she is now wearing a lovely mustache.
Can you imagine the hell this girl is living? From this and other articles on Maggie, I get the feeling that she was a bit stuck up. Was stuck up! A little time in prison will correct this problem. Women correctional facility can be as tough as a men’s correctional facility. This is probably the first time she’s had to live with minorities. As a teacher, Maggie is probably using this time as a learning experience. A learning experience in self-defense, learning how to make toilet gin, and learning how to make a shiv. She should think of this as a semester abroad, like a foreign exchange student, learning a different culture. She will be better for this or not. Who really cares?
She is smoking hot. Anybody know if she’s looking to do some tutoring when she gets out?

wow i went to that school at the time it happened all the guys were always all over her but hey not all the teachers at shore are bad there are lots of good ones.

She is now incarcerated in Northeast Pre-Release Center , not in Ohio Reformatory for Women. Why ? She was sentenced to three years, why is she now in a “pre-release center”. Does anyone know ? She must serve yet two years. Is is sure she was caught giving head to a fellow classmate when on a bus ? Sexual addiction ?
