06/25/09 – Initial BadBadTeacher.com Report)

Loren P. Meadows, 35, a social studies teacher and a football and track coach at Northmont High School in Clayton, Ohio has been arrested on charges of resisting arrest and obstructing official business.

It is alleged that Clinton County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway of an abandoned house early Tuesday morning and that upon further examination discovered Meadows and a 17-year-old girl inside the car with both were partially undressed.

It is also alleged that when asked, Meadows attempted to pass himself off as 17-years-old. Deputies using a computer terminal in the patrol vehicle brought up Meadows’ information and determined that he was 35-years-old.

It is further alleged that when deputies asked Meadows to get out of the car that he became combative and as a result deputies used a Taser to compel meadows to comply and surrender to arrest.

According to a Dayton Daily News report:

Meadows told deputies “the relationship started with hugs and kisses before meets,” and the two had a sexual relationship for the previous four months, including during her time as a Northmont student, the report said. They were waiting to have intercourse until the teen turned 18.

According to that same report, court records indicate Meadows had been married one month at the time of his arrest.

Reportedly, Meadows has resigned from the school system.

06/30/09 – Additional Charges Filed

Montgomery County prosecutors today filed two counts of sexual battery against Loren Meadows on allegations that he had sexual relations in April and May with a 17-year-old, then-student, whom he coached.

Union Police Chief Michael Blackwell said that the case is scheduled for a grand jury July 14 with the possibility of more charges being filed.

08/19/09 – Case Update

In the Clinton County case, Meadows was found guilty on the resisting arrest charge and was fined, received a suspended a 30-day jail sentence and placed on probation for two years.

Misdemeanor counts of obstructing official business and contributing to the delinquency of a minor were dismissed.

Meadows still faces two felony counts of sexual battery in Montgomery County. In that case, Meadows is charged on allegations of having sexual relations in April and May with the 17-year-old female student.

08/25/09 – Plea Deal in Montgomery County Case

In a plea deal with prosecutors, on Monday Loren Meadows pleaded guilty to three counts of contributing to the unruliness of a minor.

In exchange for that plea, two counts of felony sexual battery were dropped.

Under the terms of the plea deal, Meadows will surrender his teaching license and coaching certificate and has agreed to never coach minors again.

Sentencing is set for next month and Meadows could get up to six months in jail.

09/23/09 – Sentencing

Today, Loren Meadows was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Following his release from jail, Meadows will be under supervised probation by a sex-offender specialist for up to 5 years.

Under the terms of the earlier plea deal, Meadows must also surrender his teaching license and coaching certificate and never coach minors again.
