Lisa Minchew Guilty
Posted by: Webmaster in Art Teachers, FE-MV, Hall of Shame, High Schools, TexasLisa Minchew, 29, a former art teacher at Magnolia High School, in Magnolia, Texas has entered into a plea deal under which she pleaded guilty to sexual assault of a child and in return received five years of deferred adjudication.

A deferred adjudication basically means a probationary period during which the guilty party must adhere to conditions of probation and not engage in additional criminality. If the person under a deferred adjudication successfully completes the specified period, their guilty plea is nullified, the case is dismissed and their record does not reflect a criminal conviction.
In spite of the deferred adjudication, Minchew will have to remain registered as a sex offender for 15 years and abide by all restrictions placed upon registered sex offenders including a prohibition upon living within 1,000 feet of a school.
Minchew was accused of sexually abusing three boys, ages 15, 16 and 17-years old and was originally charged with three counts of sexual assault of a child. As part of the plea deal, two of the counts were dropped.
Minchews improper acts were reportedly common knowledge around the school and included rumors of her showing up at teen parties bringing alcohol and having sex with students. Complaints regarding Minchew led to investigations by both the school system and police. Minchew was fired by the school system in March 2006 and after a five month investigation by police she was arrested and charged in August 2006.
