Lisa M. Lavoie, 24, a first year eight-grade teacher at Maurice Donahue Elementary School in Holyoke, Massachusetts, has been arrested in West Virginia after allegedly running away with a 15-year-old male student.
Reportedly, Lavoie and the boy were found in a motel in Morgantown, West Virginia on Monday night after apparently having been together for a week.
Lavoie came to the attention of school officials on February 13th when the boys parents informed school officials of a possible relationship between the teacher and their son.
The boy had been missing since February 16th, the start of a week-long school break. Lavoie was not missed until she failed to show up at work on Monday.
Reportedly investigators had been tracking the pair for several days using credit card and cell phone data. On Monday night, state police were informed that Lavoie was at the Super 8 Motel in a Morgantown, West Virginia shopping center.
Lavoie has reportedly be placed on administrative leave by the school system.
Reportedly Lavoie was arrested and initially held on charges of child endangerment and statutory rape.
It is also reported that Lavoie is being held without bond because kidnapping in West Virginia carries a possible life sentence.
Lavoie faces the possibility of extremely serious felony charges in both states, but it appears that she will be returned to Massachusetts to face charges there initially.
02/25/09 – Case Update
Police have indicated that the boy’s parents had complained to the school about their suspicions of an affair just days before the two went missing, but no one at the school had contacted police. The boy’s family contacted police after he disappeared.
Police have also said that the alleged affair between Lavoie and the boy went on for months and that the boy’s friends knew about it.
02/26/09 – Lisa Lavoie Waives Extradition
Lisa Lavoie has waived an extradition hearing, agreeing to return to Massachusetts to face a charge of enticing a child under 16.
Police say the boy was driven halfway home Tuesday night and turned over to Massachusetts authorities.
03/06/09 – Arraignment in Massachusetts
Lisa Lavoie was arraigned today in Holyoke District Court on a charge of enticing a minor.
Lavoie entered a plea of not guilty.
The judge set Lavoie’s bail at $25,000 and ordered her to stay with her mother.
Lavoie’s attorney said he expected Lavoie to be released on bail today.
06/12/09 – Grand Jury Indictment
Lisa Lavoie has reportedly been indicted by a Hampden County Superior Court Grand Jury on six counts of statutory rape and one count of enticement of a minor.
No arraignment date has been set yet on the charges for which she has been indicted.
07/01/09 – Arraignment
Lisa Lavoie has been arraigned on three counts of aggravated rape and abuse and three counts of statutory rape.
Lavoie reportedly pleaded not guilty to the charges resulting from the grand jury indictment. She had earlier pleaded not guilty to a count of enticement of a minor.
A pretrial conference is scheduled for December 10th.

I don’t know if this woman is best suited in the “white trash” category, but she certainly is deranged. On the other hand, she does seem to have that “hillbilly” look judging from the picture.
Why anybody would work their way through college to earn a teaching credential and then throw their life away, I will never understand. She’s not going to get off easy. She’s not good looking. She’ll be doing a pretty long stretch, I’m sure.
There is absolutely no hope for this woman. She has ruined her life. She is obviously mentally ill. As for having teachers examined by a psychiatrist, most psychiatrists are basically nuts themselves. Who will be examining the psychiatrists?
Doesn’t sex with an underage boy, at a Super 8 in Morgantown, scream white trash?

Nothing will happen to her because the US is essentially a gynocentric society.
What kind of 24 year woman goes for a 15 year old kid? LOOOOSER! It is hard to imagine an adult being so pathetic and clueless! Before going into the teaching profession, teacher wanna-bes should be forced to have a psychological work up to be evaluated. How could a grown woman be physically attracted to a pimple-faced kid? I just do not get it!
Oops the school will have some ’splaining to do…
