Klint Wescom, 30, a track coach at Grayslake Central High School, in Grayslake, Illinois has been charged with sexually abusing a 17-year-old girl, who was a member of the school track team.

Klint Wescom

According to Assistant State’s Attorney Patricia Fix the girl, a junior, and several members of the track team began visiting Wescom’s home to play board games in April and by later than month the girl was visiting Wescom’s home by herself and the sexual contact took place.

Wescom was released from Lake County Jail after posting $10,000 of $100,000 bail.

Wescom is the second Grayslake Central employee in two years to be charged with having an inappropriate relationship with a student. In October, former drama teacher Jason Glick, 38, of Kenosha, was put on two years’ probation after he pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student during the 2005-06 school year.

06/27/08 – Sentencing

Klint Wescom who earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and faced a maximum of five years in prison has been sentenced.

As part of the plea deal a charge of criminal sexual assault was dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.

Wescom was sentenced to 18 months of periodic imprisonment plus probation and 240 hours of community service. He is expected to begin serving his sentence later this month.

BBT Webmaster’s note: Periodic imprisonment is a sentencing option under which the inmate is permitted to work and obtain counseling outside the jail or prison during “business hours”. Inmates sentenced under periodic imprisonment are typically required to pay a nominal daily “room and board” fee and to provide for their own health care.

Sorry, it must be your water mark. It runs across the middle of the picture.
    .
    That’s likely it.
It is unfortunate that we have to watermark the graphics but it’s just a fact of life anymore as there are some people that had rather steal the work of others than do the work themselves. – webmaster.

No, he did not have a good lawyer. In fact, on a couple of occasions, the lawyer called Klint by the wrong name. If you knew the real facts of the case, you would not say this sentence is lenient.

This periodic imprisonment is not day camp. It is basically a way for the state to soak money out of people.

Webmaster – Your captions of Klint’s picture is incorrect. He was not a teacher. Technically he was not the Track Coach, but an assistant track coach.
    .
I have no captions of the mugshot, make no reference to his being a teacher and I used the phase “a track coach”, not “the track coach” or “head track coach”. Are you possibly referring to one of something you saw on one of the sites I link to at the bottom of the article? – webmaster

thanks webmaster-for explaining what periodic imprisonment is- sounds like a daycamp 2 me. guy must have had a good (lyer) lawyer. i always wonder, why some get the shaft.and some get a slap on the wrist.why is the justice system in this country so messed up-as i have said a few times-why is it that all states dont have the same law.

    We do now! ;-)

    Thanks for the tip Gldilox.

We were aware of the earlier charges but since they were filed in April we were waiting for the next court appearance to write a post on the story.

We have been on-line for less than two weeks and are playing catch-up on numerous outstanding cases plus trying to cover the new ones arising each day.

Thanks for spending some time with us and thanks for the tip, both are appreciated.
