Kevin Wilson, 49, a computer science teacher at Bothwell Middle School in Marquette, Michigan has been arrested and charged two felony counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct.
Wilson was arrested on Friday the result of a month long investigation into allegations that he had sexual relationships with students.
Both counts center on allegations of sexual contact with the same victim. It is alleged that the sexual activity between Wilson and the girl took place when she was between 13 and 16-years-old and in or about 1996.
Reportedly Wilson, a 20 year employee of the school system, also taught band at high and middle schools over the course of his career with Marquette Area Public Schools.
Wilson made an initial court appearance this morning and has a preliminary hearing set for one week from today.
Wilson was being held in the Marquette County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
Webmaster’s Note: Hopefully additional information will be forthcoming to clarify the age of the victim and the time frame of the alleged sexual assaults. What has been released thus far is contradictory to say the least.
10/27/08 – Kevin Wilson Bound Over For Trial
Kevin Wilson had a preliminary hearing today and the judge ruled that there was sufficient evidence for Wilson to stand trial on both counts with which he is charged.
Wilson is being held in the Marquette County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.
10/28/08 – Additional Information and More Cases Possible
The Mining Journal reporting on Kevin Wilson’s preliminary hearing indicates that the Prosecutor has indicated that Wilson admitted to sexual acts with four other female students from a period from 1988 to 1996.
Reportedly prosecutors are considering information from a sixth and reportedly more recent witness.
02/27/09 – Guilty Plea
Kevin Wilson has reportedly pleaded guilty to a count of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.
Sentencing was scheduled for March 28 in Marquette County Circuit Court and Wilson faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Reportedly the prosecutors has indicated that the state would recommend three to 10 years.
03/20/09 – Sentencing
Kevin Wilson has been sentenced to prison for a period of from three to ten years.
Wilson will reportedly be required to register as a sex offender for 25 years.

I don’t understand how this guy can get out of prison after only 3 years where there are men serving the exact same offense that are doing 30? I also don’t understand how some of the girls in the school could think this man is attractive…a school for the blind?

…Wow. I would never have suspected Mr. Wilson. When he was my band teacher, I thought he was just amazing. He was really funny and a little bit mean, but you knew he didn’t mean it. I am shocked, and a little creeped out that I liked this guy as a teacher.

I seen Mr. Wilson many times when I was in school (which was 19 years ago). I always thought he was real nice, and although I am sorry that this happened, I can’t say a bad thing about him.

Mr.Wilson taught at my school and he scared me so much, in the halls he would stare at the girls and then he would rub his doodle.

Mr. Wilson was my computer teacher last year when i wuz in 6th grade. and it always seemed he treated the girls way better and nicer than he did with the boys.
