Kevin D. Thompson, 27, a social studies teacher and 8th grade boys basketball coach at South Beloit Junior High in South Beloit, Illinois has reportedly been arrested on allegations of an improper relationship with a 13-year-old female student.
Reportedly, Thompson is charged with two counts of indecent solicitation of a child, two counts of aggravated indecent solicitation of a child, one count of indecent solicitation to meet a child and four counts of battery.
Following his arrest, Thompson was booked into the Winnebago County Jail on $100,000 bond and was reportedly released after posting 10-percent of that amount. Bond was conditioned on Thompson not having any contact with the alleged victim or anyone under the age of 18.
Reportedly, Thompson has been placed on administrative leave by the school system.
11/06/09 – Case Update
Kevin D. Thompson was in Winnebago County Circuit Court Thursday where his case was reassigned to Judge Gary Pumilia.
Last week, Thompson pleaded not guilty to four felony counts of indecent solicitation of a child, one felony count of solicitation to meet a child, and four misdemeanor counts of battery.
I hope the girl, the family, and the attorney takes a long look at what is actually going on in this case. THey were way too quick to jump to conclusions and assume that they knew what was going on. Anyone who knows Mr. Thompson knows he is innocent and he can sleep every night knowing that God knows the truth. I hope the family involved can sleep at night with the knowledge that they are trying to ruin an innocent man’s life!! Lucky for them that God forgives everyone!
I’m sure you have all the details to the case, right? That’s how you’re able to state what you to believe is his innocence. You didn’t read the messages, didn’t see first hand the evidence and yet you know he’s innocent? I hope that you never have a daughter who is put through a similar circumstance as I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Hold tight to your dillusions as all will be revealed in due course. You are right about one thing, God does forgive everyone but that doesn’t mean that we have to. The fact that this predator is still out in public makes me sick.
It is so scary how close/narrow minded some people can be and how convinced they can make themselves that they know the truth. You know what they say about people that assume things. The mom in this case is so convinced she is right that she has never considered the fact that she could be wrong. It is soo sad. But the last poster is right, in due time all will come out and Mr. Thompson will be found innocent. Then I hope the mom in this case is able to admit she is wrong and hopefully Mr. Thompson can forgive her, I wouldn’t though! (BTW How sad is it to admit that god forgives everyone but then to say that people don’t have to, wow I feel bad for you and anyone you rub off on)
P.S. The fact that this great man and great teacher has been put through all of this, Makes ME SICK!!
You state that people are close/narrow minded when they say they believe him to be guilty but have you ever considered the possibilty that he is guilty, or are you just as close/narrow minded in belief of his innocence? I know the family involved and have been well informed as to what evidence there is in this case. Some of the texts were very graphic and highly inappropriate coming from a 27 year old man to a 13 year old girl. If you have a teenage daughter, it would be interesting for you to have read those texts. Maybe then you wouldn’t be so adamant about his innocence in this case.
Interesting that you have said that you have read these texts, seeing that that would be highly inappropriate for the parents to allow seeing that this is an ongoing case.
By the way when are you going to admit that you are actually the Mom involved in this case and not a ‘family friend’?? Thanks for jumping to conclusions and assuming you know things about this man, who you are trying to ruin his life, when in reality all he was trying to do was help the girl in question and get an actual sex offender off of the streets. It sure is true, nice guys always finish last. I hope he is found innocent though so I don’t lose complete faith in our justice system!!
I would be very interested in knowing what he has told you as to what his intentions were while texting this child. Were his intentions to get a sex offender off the street when he was kissing her and rubbing on her legs while alone in his classroom? Was that part of his master plan to rid the streets of this so called sexual predator? If he was so worried about the child in question, why did he not report it to anyone at the school? Isn’t a teacher supposed to automatically report any kind of trouble a student might be in? Why did he feel compelled to handle this entire issue by himself? I hope you never have a 13 year old daughter who is kissed and hugged repeatedly by one of her teachers alone in his classroom. But then again, you see no guilt in it so I guess it wouldn’t matter to you.
Kevin is due back in court on March 12. Chances are this will just be another continuance with discovery still being turned over. Have no idea what that means, but I’m sure it has to do with defense attorneys lining their pockets. If you ever want to see a model of efficiency, do not look to the justice system. I feel sorry for the victim and her parents who have to sit around and wait while they can do nothing to speed along the process.
Actually it has nothing to do with the defense attorney lining their pockets. If you knew how the justice system worked, most defense attorneys dont really start getting paid much until a trial starts and from my understanding it is the State in this case that keeps delaying things. Seems like either they don’t have enough evidence or they are trying to hide something or hoping he will plea eventually without it having to go to a trial…
No one knows if he is guilty or not,but i cant see a 13 yr old putting themselves or the parents thru all this c*** for no reason. Lets face it if you seen him in action you would be skeptical,and with all the financial issues are school is suffering thru why is he still being pd.
i was a student of Mr.Thompsons before all of this happened. and before he had to leave. We all miss him and care about him. Some of the things ive heard about i can believe are true. and i maybe think inside of myself that the bad things could also be true. But i dont want to believe it. We all love Mr.T and we all want this to be over. like i said i want to know what the truth is too. I myself miss him very much but for now i will believe he is innocent because it hurts less to believe so. I want my teacher back yet i do not know weather or not to believe he is a monster or not. He is one of the most wonderful person you could ever meet. My dad is a local police officer and he doesnt believe all of it either. hes been on the force for over 25 years. I dont know what to believe but. but i do no we all make mistakes. and i dont think hes a monster. but im not saying what he did was ok. D.W.

i cant stand choemoes but you (Expletive deleted by site moderator) people who only have one side of the story allready have him guilty and look stupid commenting about it you should wait till 12people in a box make that decision before you judge someone i had a friend accused of abuse by his step daughter later to find out she made it up because she was mad at him for groundin her from going out shes in early teens and pisst off at every one again im not defending this guy if hes found guilty i hope he gets the maximum sentece…

The trial was put off again. I wish the courts would hurry up and convict him.
Kevin has requested a new judge and been granted this wish. He is due back in court on Nov 4th. What a monster!
The case can be followed on the winnebago county circuit clerk website. You need to go to online cases and type in the last name thompson. It is not that user friendly of a website, but I will try to keep an update as the case goes along.
Stanley, where do you find all this info like the court dates and stuff? I live in SB and am interested in following this more but can’t find out anything aside from what is on here. The local stations and papers have pretty much dropped all coverage of this story in lieu of another situation in Durand.
Kevin returns to court on the 29th. I wonder if he just pleads guilty to spare his family the embarrassment instead of going to trial. Looks like a pretty solid case against him. This goes to show you that sex offenders can not be rehabilitated and need to be punished severely for their crimes.
This does not look good at all for Kevin. It looks like his predator techniques has finally caught up with him. I’ve known Kevin for several years, and am not at all surprised by the arrest. All indications are that he will re-offend, hopefully the judge teaches him a lesson for ruining this girls life. Shame on you Kevin for taking advantage of a 13 year old.

Kevin needs to be locked up for a long time. It’s a shame that he would act as a predator to students that he is trusted with teaching. Kevin is a monster and manipulated this young girl. Hopefully, his neighbor’s do not let their kids outside anymore.
