Kevin Lamont Thomas, 40, a special education teacher’s assistant and athletic coach at Birmingham High School in Van Nuys, California has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
The sexual assault is alleged to have occurred between 2004 and 2006, when Thomas was running a private basketball program being held at Birmingham High School.
Media reports have mistakenly indicated that Thomas just took an additional job as the varsity defensive coordinator at Canyon High School in Canyon Country. The school district says that Thomas is NOT an employee of the district nor has he started the employment process with the district, only that he has expressed an interest in the job.

Kevin Lamont Thomas has been charged with one count of a lewd act on a 15-year-old girl, five counts of sexual penetration with a foreign object while the victim was unconscious, five counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object on a child under 18 and one count of possession of child pornography.
Thomas is being held on bail totaling $670,000 and faces a maximum sentence of up to 30 years in prison if convicted of all the charges.
08/27/08 - Preliminary Hearing Continued
The preliminary hearing for Kevin Thomas which began yesterday has been continued until September 17th.
The delay was reportedly due to the defense needing more time to go through the evidence, including video and audio tapes.
Thomas remains jailed in lieu of $600,000 bail.
10/20/08 - More Alleged Victims and More Charges
Kevin Thomas was charged Friday with having sexual contact with four more girls, including one who says he took her to a local hotel room for a weekend of sex.
A total of seven girls, most about 15, are now accusing Kevin Thomas of a variety of sexual offenses. However two of the alleged victims came forward after the statute of limitations had expired on the crimes they allege were committed against them.
Reportedly, three of the alleged victims went to schools in the San Fernando Valley and four attended schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District in Santa Clarita.
11/07/08 - No Contest Plea
Kevin Thomas has entered a no contest plea to two felony counts; sexual penetration by a foreign object and unlawful sexual intercourse and one misdemeanor count of child molesting.
Sentencing is set for November 21st and Thomas is facing up to six years in prison.
Thomas will be required to register as a sex offender,
He will be prohibited from coaching any minor girls in the future.

I used to work with Kevin at the high school. Even though he’s in jail its like there were two Kevins. One Kevin that was very helpful and handy the other a monster. Has anyone talked with his wife and children.
