(07/11/08 - Initial BBT Report)

Kevin Devahl Samuel, 46, a math teacher at The High School Ahead Academy in Greensboro, North Carolina has been arrested and charged with soliciting a child by computer.

Kevin Devahl Samuel

Samuel was arrested as the result of an Internet sting conducted by the Guilford County Sheriff’s department in which a detective posed on-line as a 13 or 14-year-old girl. It is alleged that Samuel solicited the “girl” for sex.

Purportedly Samuel, during an on-line conversation told the “girl”, “Be careful of perverts. A lot of older guys would love to get a hold of you”.

Samuel, who was arrested Thursday, was being held Friday morning in the Greensboro Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond.
He is one of three North Carolina teachers arrested during the last few days as a result of the Internet sting operated by the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office. The other two are David Frank Pace and David Brian Seus.

Good Teacher, you sure think alot of yourself. These posts are correct that a majority of the teachers take their jobs because “whoopee” they are off summers, Christmas break, spring break, blah, blah, blah! I hear this over and over when college students are choosing their careers. “Let’s be a teacher and we will have all this time off”

Peter Rabbit - if you want to speak for yourself, that’s fine. Don’t lump the rest of us in with your self-absorbed view of the profession. You don’t know why I or any of my colleagues continue to do what we do so it is ridiculous of you to comment on behalf of “most teachers.”

Based on the content of the other comments you’ve made on this site I truly hope you are not a teacher.

    Good Teacher,

I didn’t say we take the job because of vacation time, but that’s how it end up after years of dealing with crap in the school system. Not to mention how we have to deal with complaining parents who think their kids’ poop doesn’t stink. When you have years of seniority and are up there on the pay scale with summers, weekends, holidays, etc., off, it’s not a bad deal so why leave. It becomes a sweet job at that point. You are either one of the few, a newer teacher who hasn’t had to deal with this yet or you’re not a teacher. If you are a teacher you’ll see where I’m coming from someday and just put in your time until you can retire.

Peter Rabbit - How many idiotic statements can you cram onto one website? “Most Teachers” take the job because of the vacation time? Really? I suppose you can substantiate this, right? I mean you wouldn’t say something like that without some real data, would you? No? That’s what I thought. Please…shut the hell up and don’t speak for us.

    Mother of Student,

You are mistaken. Most teachers these days are teachers because it’s a job with a lot of vacation time. For most it doesn’t have anything to do with caring about the students’ educational needs anymore. However, there are still a few who care. With all the crap that goes on in schools and with kids and their rights to do what they want in school it’s not worth it anymore. I can’t wait until I can retire.

Why is this man allowed to be home with his 3 kids that are close to the age he thought his victim would be?

    Mother of Student Says:

I knew this man personally. He was a special education teacher at my son’s school last year. He was also in charge of writing his IEP. I met with this man many times and it truly disgusts me to think that we have teachers in our schools that pretend to care about the educational needs of our children when they are exploiting children at the same time!!
