(11/16/07 – Initial BBT Report)
Kerry Lynn McJunkins, 38, of Lexington, Kentucky has been arrested on a warrant from Douglas, Arizona where McJunkins is alleged to have molested two boys in the late 1980’s.

Reportedly McJunkins was a teacher at a private school operated by the Bible Baptist church in Douglas, Arizona. At the time McJunkins was reportedly 18-years-old. One of the alleged victims was 10-years-old when the sexual abuse allegedly started in 1987. It is further alleged that McJunkins sexually abused this victim for four years.
James Pitts who reportedly has been the pastor of the Bible Baptist church in Douglas for the last 30 years says he hired McJunkins in the late 1980’s and fired him in 1991, after McJunkins became very arrogant and his behavior changed.
The alleged victim has been quoted in media reports as saying, “Everything I’ve done in my life has been affected by what he has done to me. I was threatened and I was scared, and it carries over you when you’re young and it carries with you until your older but at one point I realized he couldn’t hurt me any longer.”
The alleged victim came to this “realization” in 2006 and went to police with his complaints about McJunkins.
Little if any information has been released on the second alleged victim.
Immediately following McJunkins arrest by Lexington Police he was held on $100,000 bond. He was subsequently released on $20,000 cash bond to await an extradition hearing in which Arizona authorities will seek to have him returned to Arizona to face charges.
Reportedly police were tipped off to McJunkins’ location by his alleged victims, who tracked him down in Kentucky.
McJunkins was working at a Lexington church, but church officials indicated that his role did not put him in contact with children.
07/21/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Kerry McJunkins has entered into a plea deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to one count each of molestation of a child and sexual conduct with a minor. As part of the plea deal, six additional charges were dismissed.
McJunkins was sentenced to five years in prison, lifetime probation and required to register as a sex offender.
McJunkins was taken into custody immediately following sentencing and Cochise County, AZ jail records indicate that McJunkins is in fact currently held in the county jail.
10/19/09 – News Report of Sentencing
On 12 October, 2009 The Sierra Vista Herald published a report titled, “Court Sentencing” which revealed the names and sentences of those criminal court case concluded between June 1 and August 31st, 2009.
That report reflects the 5 year prison sentence Kerry McJunkins received beginning on 20 July, 2009, as well as the lifetime probation imposed as part of his sentence.
McJunkins online record at the Arizona Department of Corrections indicates that he will be eligible for release on parole on 12/14/2011 and that his maximum sentence end date, if denied parole, is 06/13/2014.

thankful, it’s a real blessing to see that past burden lifted from you. I don’t know if this was a recent event or not, but great to hear.
Praise the Lord!
First of all, I want to thank Melody for calling me and having the courage to post here! I want to say thank you to Thankful for writing me and posting here. I plan to add some more thanks at another time, but want to say a special thank you to anonymous on April 2nd, 2008 at 9:17 am for the comments. I appreciate it whoever you are. Thankful is right, there is a court hearing scheduled for in the morning. I believe it is in Division II with Judge Desens in Bisbee. I can’t find it on the internet yet. And to whoever put this site up – Thanks! And thanks to all of you who are praying.
As far as I know… there is a pre-trial on Mon. the 7th, and another on the 22nd of April. Please, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!! More power to you, “Wondering no more”!!!!!!! To ANON… Kerry told me that he got saved when he was five. I don’t remember the details. And, Yes, Kerry is probably keeping up with this blog, and I don’t care if he knows who I am— he can’t control me, or hurt me anymore!!! I remain still “Thankful” God saw fit that I never married this monster.
I cannot remember his exact testimony, although he did give one as being saved. I would not ask now, since he is probably reading these messages, and I would obviously comprimise my anonymity.
We’ll just have to let the Lord sort that one out.
To Wondering: ….I understand your defense of teachers. I also am a teacher. But a teacher does not make it to ‘bad bad teacher’ recognition by just being a teacher. We know most teachers are not a candidate for this site. ….McJunkins was a teacher. Being a teacher is a position of highest trust. Our children are entrusted to these teachers. McJunkins violated this trust as a teacher. He violated this trust as a person who had other leadership positions in the church. He violated the trust of those who had helped and sacrificed for him. McJunkins violated the trust of his pastors. Kerry McJunkins violated the trust of his wife. Kerry violates the trust of his own children. McJunkins violated the trust of his parents. For at least 21 years, McJunkins’ perverted and deviant behavior has gone on continuously. McJunkins is not worthy of the trust of anyone! ….”Mr.” McJunkins is talented; he has a high IQ, but he is wicked, vile, deceiving, dangerous, and NOT a Christian. ….Totally lost: the innocence and childhood of his victims. Totally lost: a good and right marriage. Totally lost: his qualification to serve in any church or in any school in ANY capacity; whether with music in any way: with special singing, songleading, piano playing; or anything to do with money: usher, treasurer, accountant; and, yes, Totally lost: even the privilege to say “Amen” when preaching or singing is taking place in the church. Totally lost: all the potential of Kerry’s high IQ. Totally lost: the use of his talent for God. ….McJunkins was the Personal Assistant to Pastor Fugate and was at Clays Mill Road Baptist Church for years. (McJunkin’s office was within Fugate’s office.) When McJunkins was caught and felt he had to confess, he confessed that he took care of his wife, but he got his “kicks” with sodomites. ….And, yes, those who are trusted usually do get close to those who trust them. But thank God that not all are like Kerry Lynn McJunkins! ….And yes, I think Judas was probably right under the nose of the other eleven apostles and yet they knew not. These kind, like Judas, are totally depraved and given over to a reprobate mind. “….he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance…” Not Wondering Any More.
To anonymous in the church there. Do you know what Mac McJunkins’ testimony is concerning when and where he got saved? If not, can you find out and respond? Your efforts are appreciated.
anon, the case was moved up to Surperior court and now has a different case number. I tried to call Thursday to get the date of the trial, but could only leave a message requesting the info. I did not get a call back with the info requested, so I may try again. If someone does know the date ( I tink sometime in April), Dist # and judge, please let us know. The court schedule is only posted for one week at a time as far as I can find.
Some really want this man out of our church soon, as we see the very same characteristics that have been posted here manifesting themselves.
There is no glory in seeing anyone fall in this manner, but if he is guilty of these crimes, coupled together with a history of continued perversion, then he needs to be put away and kept from harming anyone else.
To anonymous that posted the link. I can go to the link, but cannot find where to sign up for email notifications. What do I click on to get to it?
To “I Know for a Fact” Wondering. If you know for a fact anything that could be material to this case, please contact the Prosecuting Attorney, Marc Offenhartz. Thanks.
To anonymous: McJunkins has been indited and is being prosecuted. A motion to dismiss has been denied. There are no statutes of limitations in this case.
Thanks anon for the info. Do you know what the S.O.L. is for these crimes? Some states have a floating SOL, some have set times of 10-20 yrs from the age of 18, some have no limitations on prosecutions for child moleststion. Many states have changed their statues due to te fact that many children have repressed memory or fear from threats made during the time of abuse.
I wasn’t clear about AZ SOL on these charges. Do you know specifically what they are? TIA
To the one asking about the penalty for these crimes:
These crimes in Arizona fall in severity between 1st and 2nd degree murder with a possible life sentence.
I’d like to add another comment to those who would defend Mac by dismissing the victims.
How would your children have turned out if they would have been molested by a Sunday school teacher or Christian school teacher?
How would you have turned out if YOU would have been molested by a Christian teacher that you trusted?
Do you think you would have been bitter? Rebellious? Distrusted those who profess Christ? Wondered why God let it happen?
Don’t just dismiss or take lightly what these victims went through. Put yourself in their place with the emotion and guilt they have held in for years. How would it have effected you in your walk with the Lord?
I am praying that those who were violated would allow the Lord to apply the Balm of Gilead to their hearts and lives and eventually have their wounds healed.
I do not know the victims, but will continue to pray for them, and encourage all those in Christ to do so.
Lord Bless
Yes, Here is the email. You have to leave out the part where I say to leave it out so it cannot picked up by software. thepitts 5 (don’t leave a space between the pitts and 5) and it is ‘at’ @ gmail dot com . If this makes it too difficult to understand the email address, I will put it on here and accept the consequences. I will only be around to check this morning for about another hour and then be back in the afternoon. If I don’t hear from you today, I will put the address on here. Thank you so much for writing me! Patricia: Are you comfortable giving out your email? Or maybe the church’s? If you had any questions we could “talk” that way.
