Kenneth Edward Kothe, 61, a first-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Lynwood, California has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography.
Kothe’s arrest came about as a result of Operation Predator, an ongoing probe by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) into the downloading of child pornography off the Internet.
A search of Kothe’s Alhambra residence resulted in the recovery of hundreds of printed images of child pornography that he admitted to downloading and printing. Kothe was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing child pornography.
According to Lynwood School District officials, Kothe is being placed on unpaid administrative leave.
04/21/08 - Guilty Plea
Kenneth Kothe pleaded guilty today to one felony count of possession of child pornography.
Sentencing is set for July 14th and Kothe faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
While awaiting sentencing Kothe remains free on $50,000 bond.
07/14/08 - Sentencing
Today Kenneth Kothe was sentenced to six and one-half years in federal prison to be followed by ten years of supervised release.
Kothe will also be required to register as a sex offender for life.
