(9/22/07 - Initial BBT Report)

Kenneth Eric Boughton-Eaton, 26, a former teacher’s aide at Apache Middle School, in Sierra Vista, Arizona has pleaded guilty to charges that he had sex with two girls who were 13 and 14-years-old when the illicit activity began last year.

Boughton-Eaton who was a special education aide at Apache Middle School was indicted in April on 11 felony sex counts alleging the victimization of the two girls.

Under the plea deal with prosecutors he pleaded guilty to two of the charges and the remaining 9 charges were dismissed.

According to media reports quoting defense attorney Perry Hicks, the defendant actually had sexual intercourse with both of the victims but is only pleading guilty to “attempted” conduct on the second count, under terms of the plea deal with prosecutors.

Under the terms of the plea agreement Boughton-Eaton will serve 20 years on the first count and a lifetime of probation on the second.

11/01/07 - Sentencing

Boughton-Eaton was today sentenced to 20 years in prison and a lifetime of probation.

At sentencing he looked back at one of the victims and said, “I pray one day they can find it in their hearts to forgive me. I take full responsibility for my actions. I know that sorry isn’t enough.”

Kathy Bradford with the Cochise County Victim Witness Program said of the victims, “They’re going to be continuing counseling for many, many years. It’s affecting their families, their friends, you know…who they are as people.”

The mother of one of the victims said that Kenneth Boughton is a parent’s worst nightmare, a predator who took her little girls innocence.
